Vinicius Jr contract saga fuels Arsenal interest as Real Madrid push for Yan Diomande signing

Real Madrid face a pivotal week in negotiations with Vinicius Jr as Arsenal continue monitoring the Brazilian superstar's contract situation, while the Spanish giants intensify their pursuit of RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomande.
Although club officials remain confident that Vinicius will eventually sign a new long-term deal, the lack of an agreement has opened the door to speculation linking one of world football's biggest stars with a sensational move to the Premier League.
Arsenal keeping close watch on Vinicius situation

Vinicius Jr has entered the final year of his Real Madrid contract, and negotiations over an extension have yet to produce a breakthrough.
Arsenal have emerged as genuine admirers of the 26-year-old winger, although sources indicate the club's interest remains exploratory rather than advanced. No formal offer has been submitted, and there have been no direct negotiations between the two clubs.
The Gunners are eager to strengthen their attack despite already reshaping their frontline this summer. With uncertainty surrounding Gabriel Martinelli's future and Leandro Trossard having departed, Mikel Arteta remains keen to add another world-class attacker capable of elevating Arsenal to another level.
Financial challenge remains enormous
Even with only one year left on his contract, Vinicius would represent one of the most expensive deals in football history.
The Brazilian reportedly earns between €15 million and €17 million net per season in Spain. To match those earnings under the UK's tax system, Arsenal would likely need to offer wages approaching £450,000-£500,000 per week, comfortably making him the club's highest-paid player.
That financial commitment comes despite Arsenal already operating near the top end of the Premier League wage structure, with Bukayo Saka currently believed to be their biggest earner.
The situation also recalls Saudi Arabia's extraordinary attempt two years ago to lure Vinicius away from Madrid with a reported five-year package worth €1 billion and a transfer offer exceeding £300 million to Real Madrid.
Contract dispute—not a desire to leave

Despite growing speculation, there is still little indication that Vinicius himself wants to leave the Santiago Bernabéu.
Neither the player nor his representatives have publicly suggested an exit, while new manager José Mourinho has made it clear he considers the Brazilian central to his long-term plans.
Club president Florentino Pérez is also personally involved in negotiations, determined to avoid allowing one of Real Madrid's biggest stars to enter the season with an expiring contract.
The current disagreement appears to revolve primarily around salary expectations rather than sporting ambition.
Real Madrid continue pursuit of Yan Diomande
At the same time, Real Madrid are accelerating negotiations with RB Leipzig over highly-rated Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande.
According to reports from Germany, Madrid have increased their latest offer to between £94 million and £98 million, although Leipzig are believed to value the 19-year-old closer to £102 million.
Talks remain ongoing, with optimism growing that an agreement could eventually be reached.
If completed, Diomande would become the most expensive African footballer ever, surpassing the transfer record previously set by Nicolas Pepe.
Diomande arrival not linked to Vinicius exit

Despite outside speculation, Real Madrid insist their pursuit of Diomande is unrelated to Vinicius' contract negotiations.
Instead, club officials view both players as capable of playing together in a formidable attacking trio, with Diomande able to operate on either wing.
The arrival of the young Ivorian would instead increase competition for players such as Brahim Diaz and academy striker Gonzalo Garcia, while Rodrygo continues his recovery from long-term injury.
Crucial week ahead for all parties
The coming days are expected to be decisive as Real Madrid and Vinicius' representatives resume contract discussions.
Arsenal are expected to remain on standby, ready to explore a move only if negotiations collapse completely.
For now, however, the most likely outcome remains Vinicius extending his stay in Madrid, provided both sides can reach a compromise over his salary and maintain his status alongside Kylian Mbappé as one of the club's Galáctico superstars.
