ARIANA GRANDE WANTS TO IDENTIFY ALLEGED HACKERS BEHIND UNRELEASED MUSIC LEAKS

Ariana Grande is taking legal steps to identify people she believes broke into accounts connected to her and stole unreleased music. The singer has reportedly asked a judge for permission to subpoena internet platforms and other third parties for information that could help identify the individuals behind the anonymous accounts.

The move comes after years of efforts by Ariana and her team to trace the source of the leaks. According to the legal filings, the alleged individuals are believed to have used anonymous accounts and peer-to-peer payment platforms to conceal their identities. Ariana is therefore seeking access to subscriber information and login records from platforms she believes may contain important clues.

According to the singer’s legal team, they have identified several platforms that may hold information about the people involved. That data could include subscriber details, login information or other digital traces that might connect online accounts to the real identities of the people operating them. The subpoena request is therefore being presented as another step in the investigation, rather than proof that the suspected individuals have already been identified or found liable.

The case is particularly serious for Ariana because the material allegedly stolen was not limited to personal photographs. According to the allegations in her lawsuit, several accounts belonging to photographers and producers associated with the singer were allegedly compromised, allowing photographs and unreleased recordings to be taken. Ariana claims the activity may have been taking place since 2019 and continued for years.

In July 2026, the singer filed a lawsuit against dozens of unidentified defendants, listed in the case as John Does. Using temporary identities in a lawsuit is common when a plaintiff believes they have been harmed by an individual or group but does not yet know exactly who they are. In Ariana’s case, identifying the people allegedly operating the accounts is believed to be an important step if the lawsuit is to move forward.

One of the most notable claims in the case is that at least 45 of Ariana’s songs were allegedly stolen and leaked in 2023 alone. If proven, the scale of the alleged losses would be significant for an artist whose unreleased catalog is carefully controlled. Unfinished recordings, songs left off albums and material intended for future projects can all carry considerable commercial and creative value.

For the modern music industry, a song being released before its intended date can affect numerous aspects of a project. Promotional schedules, release strategies, commercial performance, visual campaigns and even the way an album is structured can all be disrupted. For Ariana, who often develops each album as a carefully constructed creative world, years of leaks could represent a particularly difficult problem to control.

The allegations also highlight the less visible side of the career Ariana has built over more than a decade. Born in Florida, Grande entered the entertainment industry as a child and first became widely known for playing Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s Victorious and Sam & Cat. Her distinctive voice, comic timing and youthful image quickly helped her build a large following before she transitioned fully into music.

Her major breakthrough came in 2013 with her debut album Yours Truly. Ariana began to establish herself not simply as a teenage television actress but as a vocalist with considerable technical ability. Albums including My Everything, Dangerous Woman, Sweetener and Thank U, Next continued to expand her position in global pop while building an exceptionally loyal fan base.

Thank U, Next became one of the defining chapters of Grande’s career. The album drew heavily on personal experiences and emotional upheaval, including the loss of Mac Miller and her breakup with Pete Davidson. The title track quickly became a cultural phenomenon and demonstrated how Ariana could transform private experiences into music with broad public resonance.

Positions later presented a more mature version of Grande, both musically and visually. With Eternal Sunshine, she moved into another introspective space, exploring love, memory, separation and the process of looking back on relationships. For that reason, unreleased recordings are not simply audio files that the public has never heard. They can represent parts of a creative process that Ariana and her team have deliberately chosen not to release.

Beyond music, Ariana has also returned to acting in a significant way in recent years. Her role as Glinda in Wickedmarked an important transition as she returned to the performance world that first introduced her to audiences as a child. The film brought Grande to an even wider audience while demonstrating that she was interested in building a career that extended beyond pop music.

Ariana’s personal life has also repeatedly attracted intense media attention. After several high-profile relationships, the singer married real estate agent Dalton Gomez in 2021. The couple later separated and finalized their divorce in 2024. The period coincided with Grande’s return to major film projects, ensuring that her personal life continued to receive considerable public scrutiny.

More recently, Grande’s romantic life has once again become a subject of speculation after she appeared to make a gesture connected to her former boyfriend Ricky Alvarez. The singer is reportedly believed to have gotten a new tattoo similar to Alvarez’s, featuring the words “I do love you.” The detail has prompted fans to question whether the two could be reconnecting, although social media clues do not constitute official confirmation of their current relationship.

Grande and Alvarez previously dated around 2015, when the singer’s career was entering a major period of growth. After their breakup, the two reportedly remained on friendly terms. If speculation about a renewed romance proves accurate, it would represent another notable development in Grande’s personal life, particularly as it comes at the same time she is involved in a legal battle over control of her creative work.

Meanwhile, Ariana continues to maintain a prominent position in the entertainment industry. From her beginnings as a Nickelodeon star, she has become one of the most recognizable pop vocalists of her generation while expanding into film, theater and fashion. Her career has always attracted enormous public attention, but that visibility can also make unreleased material particularly attractive to people seeking to profit from the leak market.

The current case is therefore about more than a handful of songs appearing online without authorization. It involves control over creative work, personal data and the increasingly complicated ways artists protect their work in an era when a recording can be copied and distributed within minutes. By seeking judicial assistance, Ariana appears to be moving the fight beyond attempts to trace leaks online and into a legal process that could compel relevant parties to provide information.

At the same time, allegations must be distinguished from legal findings. The individuals referenced in the lawsuit have not been publicly identified, and the accusations still need to be established through the legal process. Even if a platform provides account information, that information alone would not necessarily prove that the account holder was responsible for hacking or distributing the material. Those questions would have to be addressed if the case continues.

For Ariana Grande, this could become one of the most significant behind-the-scenes battles of the current stage of her career. While the public sees a global star performing, promoting films and releasing music, there is an extensive system behind the scenes dedicated to protecting work that has not yet been made public. With dozens of songs allegedly stolen, identifying the source of the leaks is not simply about protecting one album. It is also about preserving Grande’s control over her creative process.

After years of living under intense public scrutiny, Grande now appears to be taking a more aggressive legal approach to protecting what she considers hers. From unreleased music to private information, global fame comes with risks that are rarely visible to audiences. This time, Ariana is not only seeking to stop allegedly stolen recordings from circulating online; she also wants to find out who has allegedly been behind the leaks that have continued for years.
