Everton Complete Christian Norgaard Signing as David Moyes Continues Squad Rebuild

Everton have officially completed the signing of Christian Norgaard from Arsenal in a deal worth £7 million, marking another important step in David Moyes’ summer rebuild ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season.

The 32-year-old Denmark international has signed a two-year contract on Merseyside after finalising his move from the reigning Premier League champions. Norgaard arrived in Liverpool earlier this week to undergo his medical and complete the remaining paperwork before the transfer was confirmed.

Speaking after the announcement, Norgaard admitted he was looking for a fresh challenge and a more influential role on the pitch. “I felt I needed a change and to play a bigger football role,” he said. “When I spoke to David Moyes and the people involved in the project, I was immediately intrigued. Being here now only strengthens that feeling.”

The experienced midfielder leaves Arsenal only a year after joining from Brentford. Although he made 20 appearances in all competitions last season, only seven came in the Premier League, and Everton moved quickly to secure his signature following the departure of Idrissa Gana Gueye, whose contract expired earlier this summer.

Norgaard becomes Everton’s fourth permanent signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Hayden Hackney, Tyrique George, and Merlin Rohl. Moyes has been targeting reinforcements across the midfield and attacking positions, with the club also linked to players such as Jacob Murphy, Djed Spence, Ethan Wheatley, and Alistair Johnston in recent weeks.

Everton have also made it clear they are determined to keep hold of key winger Iliman Ndiaye, despite reported interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. The Senegal international remains under contract until 2029, and the club are not looking to sell him.

Norgaard is expected to join his new teammates immediately and could feature in Everton’s upcoming pre-season fixtures as Moyes prepares the squad for the start of the new campaign. The Toffees have already shown signs of progress during pre-season, including victories over Dundee and Hamburg, and the addition of an experienced Premier League midfielder adds further depth and leadership to the squad.

With Everton entering a new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the club’s summer recruitment strategy continues to focus on combining proven experience with emerging talent. Norgaard’s arrival provides Moyes with another reliable option in midfield and strengthens Everton’s ambitions of pushing further up the Premier League table this season.
