Overton twins provide unforgettable finish at Trent Bridge

The Hundred delivered one of its most memorable finishes of the season as Craig Overton defeated his twin brother Jamie in a dramatic family showdown to lead Trent Rockets to a thrilling four-wicket victory over London Spirit.

With the Rockets requiring 10 runs from the final five balls, Craig found himself facing Jamie in a battle that could decide the match. The all-rounder responded in spectacular fashion, top-edging his brother for a six over deep fine leg before collecting two consecutive twos to seal victory with two deliveries remaining.

Craig finished unbeaten on 20 from just six balls, earning both local bragging rights and Trent Rockets' first win of the 2026 campaign.

Duckett lays the platform for Rockets

Before Craig's late heroics, Ben Duckett had anchored the chase with an outstanding 75 from 47 deliveries.

The England batter played fluently throughout the innings, keeping the required rate under control despite regular wickets falling around him. His knock proved vital in ensuring the Rockets remained within touching distance before Craig produced the decisive late assault.

Earlier, Craig had also made a significant contribution with the ball, dismissing Jonny Bairstow for a duck after taking a sharp caught-and-bowled chance before removing dangerous South African youngster Lhuan-dré Pretorius.

Spirit fall short despite Brevis resistance

London Spirit posted a competitive total of 159-9 after Dewald Brevis top-scored with 39 from 24 balls.

Captain Liam Livingstone added a valuable 33, while Pretorius chipped in with 24, but the visitors were unable to fully capitalise after losing Bairstow without scoring.

Their bowlers looked on course to defend the target until Craig Overton dramatically turned the contest in the closing moments.

The defeat leaves Spirit still searching for their first victory after opening the tournament with back-to-back losses.

Buttler produces masterclass for Manchester

Earlier in the day, Jos Buttler reminded everyone why he remains one of the world's most dangerous white-ball batters with a sensational 90 from only 50 deliveries as Manchester Super Giants demolished Birmingham Phoenix by 87 runs.

The former England captain smashed seven fours and five towering sixes, dominating the Phoenix attack throughout his innings.

Tom Moores then added the finishing touches with an unbeaten 39 from just 17 balls, including five sixes, helping Manchester post an imposing 187-5.

Super Giants bowlers complete comprehensive victory

Manchester's bowling attack proved just as impressive as its batting.

England fast bowler Josh Tongue struck twice in consecutive deliveries, including removing Rehan Ahmed for a golden duck, immediately putting Birmingham under immense pressure.

Liam Dawson starred with the ball, claiming outstanding figures of 3-15, while Sonny Baker and Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad each collected two wickets.

Unable to recover from their poor start, Birmingham collapsed for just 100, with captain Donovan Ferreira's 23 the highest score of an otherwise disappointing batting display.

Manchester maintain perfect start

The emphatic victory means Manchester Super Giants have now won both of their opening matches, joining Welsh Fire as the only unbeaten men's teams in this year's competition.

After edging London Spirit in a tight contest earlier in the tournament, Manchester looked considerably more dominant this time, underlining the balance between their explosive batting lineup and versatile bowling attack.

For Birmingham Phoenix, meanwhile, the heavy defeat marks their first setback of the season after opening with victory over Trent Rockets.

With Buttler returning to his destructive best and the bowling unit firing collectively, Manchester have quickly established themselves as one of the leading contenders for The Hundred title.
