Manchester United have made their position clear: Bruno Fernandes is not for sale at any price, despite reported interest from Galatasaray. The 31-year-old captain has entered the final year of his contract, although United hold an option to extend his deal by another season.
Fernandes remains central to United’s plans after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign. He was named Premier League Player of the Year and broke the competition record for assists in a single season, registering 21. His performances have convinced the club that he remains indispensable to the project under manager Michael Carrick.
United’s stance has changed

The situation represents a significant shift from last summer, when United were reportedly prepared to consider a major offer for Fernandes. The midfielder later revealed that he had been hurt after being told he could accept a lucrative move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, who were reportedly prepared to pay around £100m for his services.
A £57m release clause applicable to foreign clubs has now expired, further strengthening United's position. With that clause no longer available, Galatasaray would have to negotiate directly with the Premier League club if they were to pursue a deal.
Contract situation remains important

Although United insist Fernandes is not available, his contract situation will remain a key issue. With his current agreement entering its final year, the club is expected to consider extending his stay or activating the additional year in his existing deal.
Sky Sports' James Savundra noted that Fernandes' importance to Carrick's plans makes a departure this summer highly unlikely. United are competing in both domestic and European football, and the Portuguese playmaker is viewed as a fundamental figure in their ambitions.
Fernandes himself has already demonstrated his commitment to the club after turning down the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia last year. His importance has only increased following his record-breaking campaign.
United looking to build around their captain

The club's decision to keep Fernandes comes as Carrick prepares for a new season with an evolving squad. Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo have impressed during pre-season, while Joshua Zirkzee has reportedly shown signs of improvement and could provide additional cover in the No 10 role.
For now, however, there is little indication that United are preparing for life without their captain. Galatasaray's reported interest has not changed the club's position: Bruno Fernandes is considered a key part of Manchester United's future and will not be sold this summer.
