Selena Gomez and her mother, Mandy Teefey, have become the center of attention after mental health startup Wondermind Global was hit with a lawsuit filed by two investor groups, Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC. The complaint names not only the company but also Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey, and former co-founder Daniella Pierson, accusing them of making misleading statements to persuade investors to fund the business.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs allege that Selena Gomez and Mandy Teefey led investors to believe Wondermind had the infrastructure and resources necessary to successfully build and expand the company. Based on those representations, investors reportedly contributed more than $1 million. The lawsuit also claims former business partner Daniella Pierson exaggerated her previous business achievements and overstated the financial returns investors could expect.
The investors are suing for securities fraud and seeking unspecified damages, including reimbursement of their investments and additional compensation for alleged losses. The legal action marks the latest development surrounding Wondermind, a mental health startup that once attracted significant attention thanks to Selena Gomez's high-profile involvement.
Shortly after news of the lawsuit broke, Mandy Teefey publicly denied the allegations, particularly claims that she struggled with substance abuse and mismanaged the company.
In her statement, Mandy Teefey said: "It's unfortunate that a few disgruntled employees with an ax to grind can spread lies about me and distort the truth. Even more disappointing that the media is willing to amplify their lies."
The lawsuit further alleges that Wondermind's leadership failed to inform investors about the company's worsening financial condition over a three-year period.
"For three years, while the company quietly collapsed around them, not one of its founders, officers or directors said a word to the investors whose money was funding the collapse," the complaint states.
According to the plaintiffs, they only became aware of Wondermind's internal problems after an investigative article published last September exposed alleged issues within the company. The report included accusations regarding Mandy Teefey's management style and claimed that Selena Gomez had gradually distanced herself from Wondermind amid reported tensions in her relationship with her mother.

The investors also allege that when they confronted Mandy Teefey about the claims raised in the investigative report, she attempted to place the blame on Daniella Pierson, who had already left the company by that time.
One of the most controversial allegations in the earlier investigation came from former employees who claimed Mandy Teefey had used what they believed was "a line of Ritalin" inside her office. Other former staff members alleged that she regularly received vitamin IV treatments from a rotating group of nurses and was administered liquid Benadryl. Mandy Teefey has repeatedly denied all allegations of drug use.
As of now, Selena Gomez has not publicly commented on the new lawsuit. Over the years, the singer and actress has primarily served as Wondermind's co-founder and public face, while Mandy Teefey handled much of the company's day-to-day operations.
Wondermind was founded in 2021 with the goal of creating a mental health media platform offering articles, wellness resources, and a supportive community for people seeking help with their emotional well-being. The project quickly gained attention because of Selena Gomez's openness about her own experiences with bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression.
For years, Selena Gomez has been regarded as one of the entertainment industry's strongest advocates for mental health awareness. She shared her personal journey in the documentary My Mind & Me, offering an intimate look at her struggles with mental illness, treatment, and the pressures of growing up in the spotlight.

Beyond her music career, Selena Gomez has established herself as a successful actress and producer. She earned widespread acclaim for Only Murders in the Building, receiving multiple award nominations, while also building Rare Beauty into one of the fastest-growing beauty brands in the world. Throughout her career, Gomez has repeatedly emphasized that her goal is to create products and initiatives that have a positive impact on people's lives.
Mandy Teefey has long played a pivotal role in her daughter's career. She managed Selena during the early years of her rise to fame before shifting her focus to developing Wondermind. Over the years, rumors of disagreements between mother and daughter have periodically surfaced, although neither has publicly addressed those reports in detail.
In her personal life, Selena Gomez remains one of Hollywood's most closely followed celebrities. Her high-profile relationships with Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and more recently her fiancé Benny Blanco have consistently drawn public attention. In recent years, however, she has become increasingly private, choosing to focus on her career, philanthropy, and personal well-being.
The lawsuit places renewed pressure on Wondermind, a company that was once seen as a promising force in the mental health space. While Mandy Teefey continues to firmly deny all allegations and insists that the accusations are false, the investors are pursuing claims of securities fraud and corporate mismanagement. The ultimate outcome will depend on the court proceedings and the evidence presented by both sides in the months ahead.
