MICHELLE PFEIFFER SAYS SHE'S DONE WITH MOVIE LEADS: "I NEVER WANT TO STAR IN ANOTHER FILM"

Michelle Pfeiffer has surprised fans by revealing that she no longer has any interest in leading feature films after her recent experiences in television. The veteran actress said she has found far more joy working on ensemble productions, where every character has room to grow instead of placing the entire weight of a project on a single star.

Speaking during an Apple TV panel, Pfeiffer shared her thoughts on the direction she hopes her career will take moving forward. The actress said, "I swear to God, I never want to star in another movie. I only want to do ensemble pieces. It's so much more fun, I love it so much."

Pfeiffer made the remarks after starring in two high-profile television projects, Margo's Got Money Troubles and The Madison. According to the actress, collaborating with talented casts on both series has completely changed the way she views acting and storytelling on television.

Discussing Margo's Got Money Troubles, which also stars Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman, Pfeiffer praised the strength of today's female television performances. She said, "I've just been so bowled over by the female performances on television, and honestly, they're just really owning TV."

The actress also expressed her admiration for the way modern television embraces layered, imperfect characters. She believes these complex personalities make stories feel more authentic and emotionally relatable.

Pfeiffer explained, "I love how complicated and flawed all these characters are, and it really reminds me of that famous Robin Williams quote where he says, 'Remember that everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about, and be kind.' That, for me, sums up the show and its message, and I'm really proud to be a part of it."

Alongside Margo's Got Money Troubles, Pfeiffer stars in Taylor Sheridan's drama The Madison. The series follows the Clyburn family as they leave New York City for Montana's Madison River Valley in search of emotional healing after a devastating family tragedy. The cast also includes Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox, and several other well-known actors.

Interestingly, Pfeiffer agreed to join The Madison before she had even read a completed script. She revealed that Sheridan initially pitched only the character's scope and the overall direction of the story.

Recalling the experience, Pfeiffer said, "I committed to it without even having read anything. He just explained the scope of the character and where the story was going." Even so, she admitted she repeatedly asked to see a script before officially signing on.

She continued, "I said, 'Well, I'd really love to read something.' And Taylor said, 'No, I really like to cast it first and then I write.' I replied, 'I'd really like to read something before I commit.' We went back and forth like that for weeks until I realized I wasn't going to win the argument, and I either had to commit or walk away."

Looking back, Pfeiffer believes making that leap of faith was the right decision. The Madison quickly attracted strong audience interest after its debut, and a second season had already been filmed before the first even premiered.

Michelle Pfeiffer has remained one of Hollywood's most respected actresses for more than four decades. Rising to prominence in the early 1980s, she became an A-list star through acclaimed films such as Scarface, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Dangerous Liaisons, Batman Returns, and The Age of Innocence. Her timeless screen presence and remarkable versatility established her as one of American cinema's defining talents.

Throughout her career, Pfeiffer has received multiple Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations while earning widespread critical acclaim. Although she has never won an Oscar, she is widely regarded as one of Hollywood's finest actresses thanks to her ability to excel across drama, romance, comedy, and action.

After dominating the industry throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Pfeiffer deliberately slowed her career to focus on her family. She has often said that raising her children became a greater priority than constantly working, leading her to step away from Hollywood for extended periods.

Away from the spotlight, Michelle Pfeiffer has been married to television producer David E. Kelley since 1993. Together they have a son, while Kelley also helped raise Claudia Rose, whom Pfeiffer adopted shortly before the couple met. Their decades-long marriage is frequently regarded as one of Hollywood's most stable and private relationships.

Unlike many stars of her generation, Pfeiffer has largely avoided major public scandals throughout her career. Her reputation has instead been built on professionalism, discretion, and consistently choosing quality projects over publicity, earning lasting respect from both audiences and critics.

In recent years, Michelle Pfeiffer has enjoyed a successful career resurgence through both television and film, including her role as Janet Van Dyne in Marvel's Ant-Man franchise. Yet her latest comments suggest she is no longer interested in carrying

an entire film on her shoulders.

For Pfeiffer, the greatest appeal of today's television lies in its richly developed characters and collaborative storytelling. She believes working alongside a talented ensemble cast offers far greater creative fulfillment than serving as the sole focal point of a project.

Her remarks also reflect a broader shift within Hollywood, where the line between television and film has become increasingly blurred. As prestige television continues to attract A-list talent with ambitious storytelling and cinematic production values, Michelle Pfeiffer appears more excited than ever to embrace this new chapter of her remarkable career.
