Melanie Chisholm, better known around the world as Mel C or “Sporty Spice,” has officially married her longtime partner, Australian model Chris Dingwall, in an intimate ceremony held at The Country House in Cumbria, England. Set against the picturesque backdrop of a lakeside estate, the wedding brought together close family and friends, including three of her fellow Spice Girls members—Mel B, Emma Bunton, and Geri Horner. Although it was not a complete reunion of the iconic girl group, the appearance of four of the five members quickly captured the attention of fans worldwide.

The only Spice Girl absent from the celebration was Victoria Beckham. However, her absence had nothing to do with any rift between the longtime friends. At the time of the wedding, Victoria was attending activities surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside her husband, former football star David Beckham. As England faced France in the tournament’s third-place playoff, the Beckham family was there to support the national team. David, after all, remains one of England’s greatest football icons, having captained the country at the 1998, 2002, and 2006 FIFA World Cups.
Even so, Victoria Beckham left her mark on Mel C’s special day in a meaningful way. The fashion designer was responsible for the bride’s elegant wedding dress. Speaking to British Vogue, Victoria recalled, “I was actually having dinner with Melanie and asked her what she was up to. She very casually told me she was leaving for Australia in two days and getting married! When I asked what she was wearing, she mentioned she had actually ordered one of my dresses but that it didn’t quite fit, and she didn’t have time to get it altered before leaving.”
Victoria continued, “I happened to have that exact dress in my own wardrobe and offered to lend it to her.” Her thoughtful gesture ensured that Mel C had the perfect gown for her wedding day and reflected the enduring friendship between the two Spice Girls members.

The wedding also served as a rare occasion for several Spice Girls members to reunite after years of focusing on their individual careers and personal lives. While the group has reunited for special performances in the past, seeing four members together at such an important milestone in Mel C’s life carried particular significance, highlighting a friendship that has endured for more than three decades.
Mel C and Chris Dingwall began dating after meeting on the exclusive dating app Raya in 2023. They have kept their relationship largely out of the spotlight, making only occasional public appearances together at fashion and entertainment events. After three years together, the couple decided to tie the knot surrounded by their closest family and friends.
Reflecting on their relationship, Mel C told British Vogue, “I was 49 when I met Chris, and I was in a really good place. We had a date in Australia, and it’s been difficult to separate us ever since.”
The singer also expressed her appreciation for her new husband, saying, “He’s been such a beautiful addition to mine and my daughter’s life. Because, you know, I’m a single mum. My daughter is 17, and we’re pretty resilient, the two of us—we’re a team. For anybody coming into our world, it was going to be tough, and he just fits perfectly.”
Before meeting Chris Dingwall, Mel C was in a relationship with property developer Thomas Starr for around a decade. The former couple share a daughter, Scarlett Starr. Following their split, the singer dated her manager, Joe Marshall, from 2015 until 2022 before they eventually parted ways.

Many have viewed Mel C finding lasting happiness in her early fifties as a meaningful milestone after years spent balancing her music career, motherhood, and personal life. Unlike many of her peers, she never felt pressured to marry at a younger age and has said on several occasions that she wanted to walk down the aisle only when she truly felt ready.
Born in Merseyside, England, in 1974, Melanie Chisholm studied performing arts before auditioning for a new girl group in the mid-1990s. That audition introduced her to Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Adams, ultimately leading to the formation of the Spice Girls—one of the most successful girl groups in music history.
As “Sporty Spice,” Mel C quickly stood out thanks to her powerful vocals and athletic image. Unlike the glamorous Posh Spice or the bold Scary Spice, she became widely recognized as the group’s strongest vocalist. Hits including Wannabe, Say You’ll Be There, 2 Become 1, Spice Up Your Life, and Viva Forever helped the Spice Girls sell more than 100 million records worldwide, cementing their place among the best-selling girl groups of all time.
Following the group’s hiatus, Mel C successfully launched a solo career. Her debut album, Northern Star, released in 1999, became a commercial success with hit singles such as Never Be the Same Again, I Turn to You, and Goin’ Down. The record marked an important turning point, allowing her to establish an identity beyond her role in the Spice Girls.

Over the following years, Mel C continued releasing new music, touring across Europe, and appearing on various television programs. Although she never reached the same level of commercial success as during the Spice Girls era, she has maintained a loyal fan base and continues to earn praise for her vocal ability and live performances.
Away from the stage, Mel C has spoken openly about the mental health challenges she faced during the height of her fame. She revealed that she struggled with an eating disorder, anxiety, and depression brought on by intense public scrutiny and a demanding work schedule. By sharing her experiences, she has become one of the artists helping to raise awareness about mental health.
The singer has also devoted time to charitable work, frequently advocating for healthy lifestyles and encouraging greater awareness of both physical and mental well-being. Her positive public image has helped her remain a respected figure in the entertainment industry throughout a career spanning more than three decades.
In recent years, fans have repeatedly hoped to see a full Spice Girls reunion. However, the members’ individual careers and personal commitments have made it difficult for all five women to appear together. Even so, they have continued to support one another and remain close through life’s major milestones.

Mel C’s wedding offered another reminder of that enduring bond. Although Victoria Beckham was unable to attend in person because of her World Cup commitments alongside David Beckham, her contribution in designing the bride’s wedding dress became one of the celebration’s most talked-about details and a symbol of the friendship that continues to unite the Spice Girls.
More than 30 years after first stepping onto the stage as Sporty Spice, Mel C is remembered not only as a defining figure in British pop music but also as an artist who has remained committed to her craft while overcoming personal challenges and ultimately finding happiness on her own terms. Her marriage to Chris Dingwall marks the beginning of a new chapter, shared with her family and the lifelong friends who have stood beside her since the height of the Spice Girls phenomenon.
