Jennifer Lopez recently shared a series of heartfelt moments on social media as her twins, Max and Emme—now known as Oskar—officially graduated from high school, marking a major milestone before beginning their college journey. For the singer and actress, the occasion was not only a celebration of her children’s achievements but also the beginning of a new chapter as she prepares to embrace the reality of an “empty nest” when both of them leave home to pursue higher education.

On Instagram, Jennifer Lopez posted a collection of photos capturing intimate family moments from recent weeks. Alongside several solo pictures, fans were especially moved by an emotional image of Lopez embracing Max, gently cupping his face with her hand while closing her eyes. Another photo showed Oskar sitting in front of a “Class of 2026” sign, while Oskar’s graduation cap featured the phrase, “Not my first rodeo.” The post also included graduation-themed cupcakes, adding another personal touch to the family’s celebration.

Jennifer Lopez simply captioned the post: “They say I got lucky… and I don’t disagree… Just this feeling.”

The post quickly received thousands of congratulatory messages from fans. Many praised Jennifer Lopez for her dedication as a mother while celebrating the accomplishments of both of her children.

One fan commented, “I love you all!! Congratulations to the coconuts! So happy for them. You are a wonderful mother at all times.”

Another wrote, “Congratulations to Emme and Max!!! So proud of them & their hard-earned work and future success!!”

Beyond celebrating the twins’ graduation, this year’s milestone also drew public attention after Emme was introduced under the new name Oskar Muñiz. In a social media post that was later deleted, it was revealed that Oskar will attend Sarah Lawrence College, where he plans to study theater and visual arts. The post tagged Oskar’s Instagram account and referred to Jennifer Lopez’s child using he/him pronouns. It marked the first time Oskar’s new name and preferred pronouns had been publicly shared on such a wide scale.

Meanwhile, Max has yet to reveal which college he plans to attend. Earlier this month, Jennifer Lopez attended her son’s graduation ceremony and struggled to hold back her tears throughout the event. Photos published by Page Six showed the entertainer becoming emotional as she tightly embraced Max on his special day. She was joined by her parents, Guadalupe Rodríguez and David Lopez, longtime manager Benny Medina, and Oskar.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in May, Jennifer Lopez revealed that she has been personally preparing everything for her children as they get ready to move away for college.

“I do all the things,” she shared. “We have sheets at the house. We’re gonna pack up their rooms here, and they’re going to take all the things that they want to take to their dorms.”

The singer also joked that she hopes both of them will miss home sooner rather than later.

“Then, they’re gonna get there and realize their dorms are too small. They’re going to miss home, I hope and want to come back real soon. That’s my plan.”

Shortly before the graduation ceremony, Jennifer Lopez revealed that both Max and Oskar had been accepted into all five colleges they applied to, with each receiving a scholarship. Speaking with Extra, she expressed how proud she was to see them overcome numerous academic challenges.

“They all got into all five colleges that they applied to. They both got a scholarship, you know, one scholarship to each. Each one got a scholarship to a school. And I just felt like they work so hard.”

“I watched how hard they worked, from the time they were like… when school gets serious in the fifth grade, and they just worked hard. They have ADHD, and so they need to learn differently, and there were struggles and times, and I’m just so proud of them because they did what they said they were going to do, and they’re good people.”

Jennifer Lopez also attracted attention when reflecting on raising her children following her marriage to singer Marc Anthony. Speaking on the SmartLess podcast, the actress admitted that she has become increasingly emotional as her children prepare to leave home.

“It’s crazy. And now I can really look at my life, appreciate it for what it is and what I’ve created for myself and be really happy.”

After mentioning once again that both of her children had earned scholarships and been accepted into their preferred colleges, Lopez added:

“It’s just … I was like, ‘You did that sh-t all by yourself.’ That’s great. Like, ‘You had very little help,’ you know?”

Many media outlets interpreted the remark as a subtle jab at her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, who was notably absent from the graduation photos of Max and Oskar and has rarely been mentioned in Jennifer Lopez’s recent comments about raising their children.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony married in 2004 after years of knowing each other within the Latin entertainment industry. Their twins, Max and Emme, were born in 2008 and quickly became familiar faces alongside their mother at public events. Although the couple divorced in 2014, they continued to co-parent despite their separate personal lives taking different directions. Marc Anthony later married model Nadia Ferreira, while Jennifer Lopez famously reunited with and married Ben Affleck before that marriage ended less than two years later.

At 56, Jennifer Lopez continues to hold her place as one of Hollywood’s most versatile entertainers. After rising to prominence with her breakthrough performance in Selena, she successfully expanded into music, producing a string of hit songs including If You Had My Love, Love Don’t Cost a Thing, Jenny from the Block, On the Floor, and Let’s Get Loud. Over more than two decades, Lopez has balanced careers in film, music, fashion, business, and television, establishing herself as one of the world’s most influential Latin stars.

Alongside her remarkable career, Jennifer Lopez’s personal life has frequently made headlines. Her relationship with Ben Affleck has long been regarded as one of Hollywood’s most talked-about romances.

Nearly two decades after ending their first engagement, the pair reunited and married in 2022 before ultimately going their separate ways once again. Despite the ups and downs in her personal life, Lopez has rarely allowed those challenges to overshadow her professional commitments, continuing to perform, act, and expand her business ventures.

Now, as Max and Oskar prepare to begin college, Jennifer Lopez is entering a new chapter of her own. After spending years balancing life as an international superstar and a devoted mother, she has said that her greatest source of pride is not her career accomplishments, but watching her children grow into independent young adults, overcome academic challenges, and confidently pursue their own paths.

The simple graduation photos therefore represent more than a milestone for Max and Oskar—they also reflect Jennifer Lopez’s nearly two-decade journey through motherhood as she prepares to adjust to a very different life with both of her children leaving home.
