Jen Hamilton has shared an emotional reflection on one of the most turbulent periods of her life, revealing that the biggest achievement of her writing career coincided with the collapse of her marriage. The labor and delivery nurse turned content creator said the joy of becoming a best-selling author was quickly overshadowed by deeply personal turmoil.

In a recent Instagram post, Jen revealed that her book Birth Vibes reached No. 1 on the New York Times Best Seller list, but at the very moment she achieved that milestone, someone she described as an “undercover OPP”—a slang term referring to a hidden enemy or someone secretly working against you—disrupted what should have been one of the happiest times of her life. Although she did not identify the person, Jen said their actions prevented her from fully celebrating years of hard work.
She wrote, “I hit #1 New York Times Best Seller List and then an undercover OPP in my life hijacked this special time in my life with some bulls* so I couldn’t even market the book I had worked so hard on for the last few years.”**
In the accompanying video, Jen first appeared proudly holding a copy of Birth Vibes before transitioning into a lighthearted dance to Cardi B’s music. She declared, “I’m back. This is me making up for all that lost time the best/only way I know how.”
She also encouraged followers to check out her book, saying, “[Birth Vibes] is really good. It’s for pregnant people, moms, dads, sisters, nurses, doulas, doctors, midwives, or anyone who loves stories of human compassion.”
Released in early May, Birth Vibes: Stories and Strategies for an Empowered Birth is a collection of lessons Jen learned during her years as a labor and delivery nurse. The book combines practical advice with heartfelt stories from the delivery room, highlighting the experiences of families, healthcare professionals, and the emotional journey of childbirth. It quickly became a commercial success and landed on the New York Times Best Seller list shortly after publication.

However, the book’s release coincided with growing speculation that Jen’s marriage to Brian Hamilton was in trouble. Just over a month later, the couple confirmed they had separated after 15 years together. They share two sons, Ellis and Luke.
In a joint statement, Jen and Brian wrote, “Yes, we are separating. This comes with enormous pain for the both of us but also gratitude for the 15 years of shared history, love, and friendship.”
They emphasized that their children remain their highest priority and that they are committed to treating one another with kindness throughout the transition. They added, “We are committed to loving each other well through this transition and placing the wellbeing of the family we created at the center.”
The pair also stressed that their separation was not the result of falling out of love. “This wasn’t about falling out of love. That’s why this is so devastating. It was about recognizing that sometimes the most loving thing you can do is give someone space to figure out complex things.”
Following the announcement, Jen revealed that she had temporarily stepped away from her nursing career to focus on her mental health. She admitted she was not emotionally ready to care for patients, saying, “My patients do not deserve the mental state that I would bring to the bedside right now. One moment, I’m OK. The next moment, I’m not OK.”

Despite the painful separation, Jen has repeatedly said she holds no resentment toward Brian. In one TikTok video, she shared, “Even after everything that has happened, I have no animosity, no ill will. I want him to find himself. I want him to be the best version of himself that he’s ever been.”
At the same time, she said she is learning to become her own biggest supporter while setting a positive example for her children. “I’m also going to be my biggest cheerleader. I am going to model for my children what it means to have healthy relationships, healthy self-worth.”
In another viral TikTok video, Jen reflected on the heartbreak she experienced by writing, “Me crying for weeks about a man I was loyal to for 15 years who wanted everyone but me.” Moments later, she reminded herself of her accomplishments with another message: “I’m a #1 NYT Best Selling Author… I am not worthless.”
The influencer has also spoken candidly about the darkest moments following the breakdown of her marriage. “There were a few moments I didn’t know if I was going to live, OK? As you find out new information, that feeling of not being able to live gets pretty strong.”
Jen said she gradually found her footing again thanks to what she calls her “five Ms”: meditation, meds, mentorship, mingling, and Megan Thee Stallion, whose music helped lift her spirits during difficult days. Together, she said, those five things helped her begin healing.
She also shared a message of encouragement for anyone facing unexpected hardships: “The stuff that is going on in your life, you did not ask for… You may be able to distract me from my joy, but you cannot have it.”

As she continues rebuilding her life, Jen has embraced new beginnings in small but meaningful ways. One of her latest projects has been redecorating her home following the separation. On Instagram, she showed off newly installed floral wallpaper, saying she has enjoyed making her living space feel more feminine and comforting.
Born in 1991, Jen Hamilton is widely recognized as a labor and delivery nurse, content creator, author, and advocate for maternal health. Rather than retreating from the spotlight, she has chosen to openly document her healing journey while continuing to grow her writing career and online platform.
