Donald Trump Calls Kamala Harris “Half” a Person, Says He Would Be Willing to Moderate a 2028 Presidential Debate

U.S. President Donald Trump has once again made headlines after taking aim at former Vice President Kamala Harris during an interview on Salem News Channel. While discussing whether he would consider moderating a future presidential debate, Trump reflected on his face-off with Harris during the 2024 presidential election, claiming that the debate had been unfairly stacked against him.

When host Hugh Hewitt asked whether he would be interested in moderating one or more presidential debates in the future, Trump replied, “I’d love to do it.” From there, he shifted the conversation to the 2024 presidential debate, arguing that the event had not been conducted impartially.

During the interview, Trump criticized ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis, accusing them of asking biased questions and favoring one side throughout the debate. According to Trump, he was effectively competing against more than just his political opponent.

“I got two people plus a half against me,” Trump said. When Hewitt asked who the “half” referred to, the president responded without hesitation, “Kamala is the half.”

The remark quickly drew attention across social media, adding to the long list of criticisms Trump directed at Harris throughout the 2024 presidential campaign. At the time of writing, Harris’ representatives have not publicly responded to the president’s latest comments.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris has previously said she has not ruled out another run for the White House in 2028. Appearing on Sharon McMahon’s podcast earlier this year, she said, “I haven’t decided. I might.”

Although Harris was frequently the target of Trump’s attacks during the campaign, she has also revealed that his private demeanor differed significantly from his public persona. She shared the story in her memoir 107 Days, released last September.

According to Harris, after a man was arrested in September 2024 for allegedly plotting to assassinate Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course, she decided to call her political rival to check on him. Before making the call, Harris admitted she had prepared herself to speak with the combative version of Trump she had come to know publicly.

Instead, she experienced something entirely different. In her memoir, Harris wrote, “I’d readied myself for a phone conversation with Mr. Hyde, but Dr. Jekyll had picked up the call.”

According to Harris, Trump surprised her by offering words of praise during the conversation.

“You’ve done a great job, you really have. My only problem is it makes it very hard for me to be angry with you. It’s like, what am I going to do? How do I say bad things about you now?” he reportedly told her.

Harris said she simply replied, “Well, then don’t!” Trump then answered, “I’m going to tone it down. I will. You’re going to see.”

Before ending the call, Trump allegedly made another unexpected remark, saying that his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, was a fan of Harris. Even so, Harris insisted the private conversation did not change her overall opinion of the president. In 107 Days, she continued to describe Trump as “a con man” who is “really good at it.”

Donald Trump remains one of the most controversial political figures in modern American history. Before entering politics, he built his reputation as a real estate developer and chairman of The Trump Organization, overseeing numerous luxury hotels, golf courses, and commercial real estate projects across the United States. He also became a household name through the reality television series The Apprentice, where his signature catchphrase, “You’re fired!”, became synonymous with his public image.

Trump won the 2016 U.S. presidential election to become the nation’s 45th president. After losing to Joe Biden in 2020, he returned to the political stage and defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, becoming the 47th president of the United States.

Throughout his political career, Trump has been known for his blunt and often controversial rhetoric. During multiple election campaigns, he frequently assigned nicknames to his political rivals and made sharply critical remarks about them. While this approach has helped keep him at the center of media attention, it has also drawn criticism from political opponents and commentators alike.

In his personal life, Donald Trump has been married to former model Melania Trump since 2005. Melania currently serves as First Lady of the United States. Trump has five children, including Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Eric Trump, all of whom have played prominent roles in both the family’s business empire and his political campaigns.

Kamala Harris, meanwhile, made history as the first woman, the first Black American, and the first person of South Asian descent to serve as Vice President of the United States. Before taking office, she served as a U.S. senator representing California and previously as the state’s attorney general, building a reputation as an experienced legal and public policy figure.

The relationship between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris has become one of the defining political rivalries in recent American politics. From presidential debates and campaign rallies to media appearances, the two have consistently clashed over major issues including the economy, immigration, foreign policy, and social programs.

Trump’s latest remarks suggest that political tensions between the two figures remain far from over, despite the conclusion of the 2024 election. With Harris leaving the door open to a potential 2028 presidential campaign and Trump continuing to wield significant influence within American politics, statements from either side are likely to remain under close public scrutiny in the years ahead.
