David Harbour Teases New Project With Millie Bobby Brown After Rift Rumors, Says Their Bond Remains Strong

After wrapping up the decade-long journey of Stranger Things, David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown are set to reunite for an entirely new Netflix project. The announcement, confirmed by Harbour in a recent interview, has also helped put to rest speculation that the two stars had fallen out following rumors that surfaced months earlier.

Harbour revealed that he and Brown hope to bring the same emotional father-daughter dynamic that made Jim Hopper and Eleven so beloved in Stranger Things into a completely different story. According to the actor, both of them wanted audiences to experience the same chemistry that became one of the show's defining elements.

Reflecting on Hopper and Eleven's farewell in the fifth and final season, Harbour admitted that although the creative team did an excellent job, it was impossible to satisfy every fan's expectations. "I think the guys did a terrific job on season 5, but I just don't think you could pay off that relationship in the way that people wanted it to pay off. I just don't think there's a way."

That is precisely why, he explained, he and Brown wanted to give fans another opportunity to see them together on screen. Their upcoming Netflix series, which has yet to receive an official title, is a spy drama. Harbour described it as a "wild and rich" project filled with "deep emotion," adding, "It will surprise you."

The actor also expressed how excited he is to reunite with his longtime co-star. "I'm really excited to be back with her. I love working with her."

According to the official premise, Harbour will play Matt Wolfe, a disgraced former FBI agent who now works as a security specialist. His quiet life is turned upside down when his estranged daughter—also an FBI agent—goes missing, forcing him back into the dangerous world he thought he had left behind.

Millie Bobby Brown previously hinted at the collaboration during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "Father-daughter is where we live, but Netflix will always be our home. The David Harbour project is sooner than expected, and it's David's idea, so kudos to him."

News of their reunion arrives about nine months after reports claimed Brown had filed a complaint with Netflix accusing Harbour of harassment and bullying during the production of Stranger Things. Despite those allegations, the two actors continued appearing together throughout the promotional campaign for the show's final season and consistently spoke positively about one another in interviews.

In June, Harbour addressed those allegations directly for the first time. He explained that his relationship with Brown was no different from any close family relationship or long-term friendship built over many years.

"It's a show that went on for 10 years. We worked together for 10 years during her formative teenage years, playing father and daughter. I don't know if people have families and friends that you spend a lot of time with for 10 years—you occasionally get in arguments, disagreements."

Harbour said the situation ultimately became distorted once it entered the media spotlight. He described it simply as "a rupture-and-repair kind of thing," arguing that the enormous scale of Stranger Things naturally magnified every story surrounding the cast.

"The problem with a billion-dollar show is that there are hundreds of people who want to get involved. Everyone nowadays is very scared of talking about things. People are very scared of being human. It's unfortunate because I don't know how to navigate this weird media world. But it was completely normal, and we adore each other and always have."

Brown has never directly addressed the bullying allegations. However, shortly after the reports surfaced, she emphasized that she "felt safe" working alongside Harbour throughout the making of Stranger Things.

She explained that portraying father and daughter for so many years naturally created an unusually close connection. "You naturally just... you know, you've been doing it for so long. We also play father and daughter so naturally, we have a closer bond than the rest because we've had some really intense scenes together, especially in season 2. David and I have a great relationship."

The relationship between David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown has long been considered one of the emotional foundations of Stranger Things. On screen, Hopper and Eleven evolved from strangers into a genuine father-daughter family. Off screen, both actors have repeatedly spoken about the trust and respect they share, making the rumors of conflict particularly surprising to many fans.

Born in 1975, David Harbour spent years building his acting career through supporting roles on television, in films, and on Broadway before landing the breakthrough role of Chief Jim Hopper in Stranger Things. The performance earned him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations while transforming him into one of Netflix's most recognizable stars.

Outside the hit series, Harbour has appeared in major productions including Black Widow, Violent Night, Gran Turismo, and as Red Guardian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Known for balancing toughness with emotional depth, he has built a reputation for portraying complex characters with both strength and vulnerability.

In his personal life, Harbour married singer Lily Allen in 2020 after several years of dating. Although their relationship has attracted considerable media attention, the couple have generally chosen to keep their private life away from the spotlight. Harbour has often said that marriage and family have helped him become more grounded after years of focusing almost exclusively on his career.

Meanwhile, Millie Bobby Brown has entered a new chapter of her own after marrying Jake Bongiovi, the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi. In addition to acting, she has expanded her career by launching the Florence by Mills beauty brand, producing films, and establishing herself as one of the most successful young entertainers of her generation.

Their decision to reunite so soon after Stranger Things ended therefore represents more than simply another collaboration between two popular actors. It also serves as the clearest response yet to months of speculation surrounding their relationship. Based on what both Harbour and Brown have shared publicly, the upcoming Netflix series is expected to mark the beginning of a new chapter—one that continues to build on the remarkable chemistry they developed over a decade of working together.
