Caleb Shomo and Fleur Shomo are officially ending their 14-year marriage. According to documents filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, the couple jointly submitted a petition to dissolve their marriage. The decision comes shortly after the Beartooth frontman publicly identified himself as a “proudly gay man,” bringing to light a deeply personal struggle with his sexuality that he had carried for many years.

Caleb and Fleur married in April 2012 after several years together. Throughout their marriage, they had no children and largely stayed out of the spotlight when it came to their personal lives. They were known as a private couple who consistently supported one another’s careers while keeping their relationship away from public attention.
The divorce filing came only days after Caleb publicly opened up about his sexuality for the first time. In a heartfelt message shared with fans on social media, the singer admitted that he had spent years trying to come to terms with this part of himself.
He wrote, “This is something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now. It’s been difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact.”
Caleb explained that these internal struggles had existed for many years and had quietly found their way into his songwriting. He said his previous albums reflected themes of his religious upbringing, depression, self-hatred, and the sense of hopelessness he experienced throughout much of his life.

Looking back on his musical journey, Caleb said he remains grateful for everything he has created, but also carries a sense of regret.
“There were times when I felt embarrassed that I wouldn’t allow myself to really dig up the roots of all of this for so long.”
Following Caleb’s public coming out, Fleur Shomo also broke her silence regarding the changes in their marriage. Although she admitted she was devastated by the end of their relationship, she made it clear that her support for Caleb had not changed.
Fleur wrote, “I will always love, protect, and support Caleb for the rest of our lives. Over the years, nothing has mattered more to me than his well-being and happiness.”
She also expressed heartbreak over knowing that the person she loved had spent so many years living in fear and confusion about his true identity.

“You never want anything more for the person you love than for them to simply be okay. But at the same time, you constantly ask yourself whether you’re a bad person for wondering what this means for your own life—and for feeling the anger that naturally comes with it.”
According to Fleur, the greatest challenge has been learning how to continue supporting Caleb while accepting that her own life has been completely transformed.
“Supporting him while losing everything myself has been incredibly difficult. You can love and stand beside your person through the hardest period of their life while also feeling completely shattered and losing yourself at the same time.”
During an appearance on the Disrespectfully podcast, Caleb also recalled the emotional moment he first told Fleur that he was attracted to men. He described it as one of the most difficult conversations of his life.
The rock singer remembered, “I was crying my eyes out, trying so hard to find the words. I’ve always struggled to express my feelings, and because this was such a huge thing, I was so nervous and scared that I could barely explain what I wanted to say.”
Caleb believes one of the main reasons he suppressed his sexuality for so many years was the conservative environment in which he was raised. He recalled a childhood memory of choosing what his mother described as a “girls’ ring.” After being bullied at school for wearing it, he became terrified and threw the ring out of a car window.
He recalled thinking, “Don’t ever do that again. Whatever that is, keep it as far away from yourself as possible.”
From that moment on, Caleb said he learned to suppress every feeling that made him believe he was different. He explained that he had always sensed a feminine side to himself but never felt safe enough to express it because of fear of judgment.

“Now I understand that feeling was my sexuality. Back then, I saw it only as self-hatred. I believed it was something evil inside me that I had to fight with everything I had. I even prayed, hoping I could make it disappear.”
Born in Columbus, Ohio, Caleb Shomo is best known as the founder, lead vocalist, songwriter, and driving creative force behind the metalcore band Beartooth. Since its formation in 2012, the band has become one of the leading names in modern rock, releasing acclaimed albums including Disgusting, Aggressive, Disease, Below, The Surface, and most recently, Pure Ecstasy.
Caleb’s music has long been praised for its honesty, often exploring mental health struggles, loneliness, religious pressure, and the search for identity. Following his recent revelations, many fans have revisited his earlier work and recognized the deeply personal messages that had been present in his lyrics all along.
Throughout his career, Caleb Shomo has largely stayed away from major controversies. He has built a reputation as an artist devoted to his music while openly discussing mental health and encouraging fans to confront their own personal struggles. For many, his decision to publicly embrace his sexuality marks a significant turning point, not only in his personal life but also in his artistic journey.
Although Caleb and Fleur Shomo’s marriage has come to an end, both have expressed a desire to move forward with mutual respect and understanding. As Caleb begins a new chapter by openly embracing his identity, Fleur is also learning to rebuild her own life while continuing to support the man who was once her life partner for more than a decade.
