Brad Pitt has taken his legal battle with Angelina Jolie to a new level by asking the court to compel his ex-wife to provide additional film contracts and financial records related to her earnings between 2017 and 2021. The latest move marks another chapter in the years-long dispute over Château Miraval, the French estate and winery that was once considered a symbol of the former Hollywood power couple's marriage.

According to court filings, Pitt is seeking documents detailing Jolie's acting salaries, brand endorsement income, and profit-participation statements from the films she worked on during that period. His legal team argues that these records are relevant because Jolie previously stated that she sold her stake in Château Miraval in pursuit of financial independence following their separation in 2016.
In his latest filing, Pitt's attorneys claim that Jolie initially agreed to produce the requested documents before changing her position and refusing to hand over the full set of records they sought. As a result, the actor is now asking the judge to order her to comply with the discovery request.
Jolie, however, rejects Pitt's argument and maintains that she has already provided part of the financial information requested by the court. According to the actress, Pitt is seeking far more documentation than he is legally entitled to obtain and is misrepresenting her previous statements regarding her decision to sell her stake in the winery.
Jolie's attorney emphasized, "The issue is not whether Jolie needed the money. The issue is that she was trying to untangle her life and her finances from her controlling and abusive ex-husband. That distinction makes all the difference."
Her legal team also argues that Pitt's request is based on "a made-up theory that Angelina never alleged." They contend that Jolie's desire for financial independence should not be interpreted as a claim that she was experiencing financial hardship. The actress insists she never said she had to sell her stake because she was unable to support herself financially.

Jolie's lawyers further noted that Pitt had already received substantial financial information during their divorce proceedings. Court records indicate that she voluntarily submitted her tax returns and profit-participation statements for 2020 and 2021. However, they oppose producing records from earlier years, arguing that such a request would constitute an invasion of her privacy.
The current dispute stems from Jolie's sale of her interest in Nouvel, the company through which she owned her stake in Château Miraval. Pitt and Jolie purchased the estate in 2008 for approximately $28.4 million. Originally serving as both the family's private retreat and a shared business venture, the property eventually grew into a globally recognized premium wine brand.
Pitt argues that he devoted years of time, effort, and financial resources to developing Château Miraval into a successful business. At the same time, he acknowledges that Jolie contributed roughly 40 percent of the property's original purchase price. Following the collapse of their marriage, managing the shared asset became increasingly complicated, ultimately leading to multiple legal disputes.

In 2022, Pitt sued Jolie, alleging that she improperly sold her stake in the winery to a third party without his consent. According to Pitt, the former couple had agreed that neither party would transfer their ownership interest in Château Miraval without the other's approval. Nevertheless, Jolie ultimately sold her stake to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group.
Pitt claims he had agreed to let Jolie explore potential buyers but retained the right to approve the final purchaser. The actor says he was shocked to learn that Tenute del Mondo had completed the acquisition without his consent and alleges that Jolie deliberately withheld key details of the transaction.
Jolie disputes Pitt's interpretation, arguing that he had no absolute veto power over her decision to dispose of her own property following the end of their marriage. The disagreement remains one of the central issues preventing the case from being resolved, despite the couple's divorce being officially finalized in late 2024.
Pitt has also objected to Tenute del Mondo becoming Château Miraval's new business partner. He describes the company as a "hostile" third party and has expressed concerns about its ties to Stoli Group executive Yuri Shefler. According to Pitt, the change in ownership structure has complicated the winery's operations and disrupted a business he spent years building.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were once regarded as one of Hollywood's most influential couples. They fell in love after co-starring in Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005, publicly confirmed their relationship soon afterward, and went on to build a family with six children, including three adopted and three biological children. After nearly a decade together, they married at Château Miraval in 2014.
Just two years later, Jolie filed for divorce, setting off one of the entertainment industry's most closely watched celebrity breakups. Disputes over child custody, shared assets, confidentiality agreements, and the management of Château Miraval dominated headlines for years. Although their marriage has been legally dissolved, several financial disputes remain unresolved.

Brad Pitt has enjoyed one of Hollywood's most successful acting careers, spanning more than three decades. He is best known for acclaimed films including Se7en, Fight Club, Troy, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Beyond acting, he has also established himself as a respected producer through Plan B Entertainment, backing numerous award-winning films.
Angelina Jolie has built an equally distinguished career. She won an Academy Award for Girl, Interrupted and has starred in blockbuster films such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Maleficent, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Eternals, and Those Who Wish Me Dead. Beyond filmmaking, Jolie is widely recognized for her humanitarian work, having served for many years as a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees while advocating for the rights of women, children, and displaced people around the world.
The breakdown of Pitt and Jolie's marriage has also been accompanied by highly publicized allegations outside the courtroom. Claims involving controlling behavior, abuse, and family conflict have repeatedly surfaced through legal filings and public statements from both sides. Pitt has consistently denied the allegations made against him, while Jolie maintains that her actions were aimed at protecting herself and their children following the end of the marriage. Their sharply differing accounts have continued to fuel an already contentious legal battle.
Today, Château Miraval remains at the center of the former couple's prolonged courtroom conflict. While Pitt continues trying to prove that Jolie violated their agreement by selling her ownership stake, the actress maintains that she had every right to dispose of her property after the marriage ended. Pitt's latest effort to obtain Jolie's film contracts and income records suggests that the legal battle over Château Miraval is far from over, with both sides still awaiting a final resolution.
