Aston Villa Agree Deal to Sign Alejandro Garnacho as UEFA Rules Shape Transfer

Aston Villa have reached an agreement to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on an initial loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy, according to Sky Sports.
The total package, including the loan fee, is understood to match Chelsea's valuation of £42.6 million (€50m). The Argentine winger joined Chelsea from Manchester United for £40 million last summer but has been made available for transfer after failing to secure a regular role.

UEFA Financial Rules Influence the Deal
Rather than completing a straight permanent transfer, Villa and Chelsea have opted for a loan with a conditional obligation to buy due to UEFA's financial sustainability regulations.
Both clubs were recently fined for breaching UEFA's financial rules and remain under close monitoring. A direct transfer could have affected how Aston Villa records the profit from the recent sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea.
Under UEFA regulations, transfers completed within 45 days of each other and involving similar payment structures can be treated as a player exchange. If that happened, Villa would only be allowed to record the net profit between the two deals rather than the full fee received for Rogers.
The loan structure is designed to help both clubs remain compliant with UEFA regulations while allowing the move to proceed.
Emery Believes Garnacho Can Thrive

Villa manager Unai Emery has long admired Garnacho and sees the 22-year-old as an ideal addition to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season.
However, not everyone is convinced the move will be a success.
Speaking on Sky Sports' Transfer Talk Podcast, journalist Henry Winter warned Villa to approach the deal with caution.
"Buyer beware with Garnacho. He'll let you down."
Winter acknowledged the Argentine's talent and pace but questioned his consistency, adding that Garnacho must fully commit to Emery's demanding coaching if he wants to reach his potential.
Rory Wilson Loan Talks Collapse
Meanwhile, negotiations between Aston Villa and Norwegian club HamKam over a loan move for striker Rory Wilson have stalled.
The two clubs failed to agree on the terms of a deal for the Scotland Under-21 international, despite HamKam hoping Wilson would replace Mame Niang, who recently joined Porto.
The 20-year-old continues to attract interest from clubs across Europe and the English Football League.
Fans Back Emery Despite Squad Changes
Villa supporters have expressed mixed emotions following several departures this summer, particularly the exit of Youri Tielemans.
While many view the Belgian midfielder as a significant loss, confidence remains high in Unai Emery's rebuilding project. Fans believe the club has recruited well so far and expect further additions before the transfer window closes.
