Angelina Jolie is preparing to close an important chapter in her life as her youngest children, twins Vivienne and Knox, officially turned 18 on July 12. According to a source close to the actress, Jolie feels that the time has finally come to begin a new phase of life, with greater freedom and flexibility after spending years putting the upbringing of her children first.

The insider shared, “She’s been talking about leaving Los Angeles for years. She’s happy to have more freedom and flexibility in her life.” Now that all of her children are legally adults, Jolie is reportedly looking forward to spending more time exploring the world with them instead of remaining tied to life in California.
According to the source, family has always been Angelina Jolie’s highest priority. “The kids have always been her priority. She’s wanted them to experience the world and she’s excited that they can all do more of that together now. She’s ready for it.”
Jolie shares six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox—with her former husband, Brad Pitt. Since the breakdown of their marriage in 2016, the actress has devoted much of her time to raising their children while balancing her film career and extensive humanitarian work around the world.

In reality, Jolie’s desire to leave Los Angeles is nothing new. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2024, she admitted that she had remained in the city largely because of the circumstances surrounding her divorce. Referring to her youngest children, she said, “But as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.”
The Oscar-winning actress also explained that raising a large family has made privacy, peace, and safety especially important to her. “When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place… that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”
Jolie revealed that once she leaves Los Angeles, she plans to spend much more time in Cambodia—a country that holds deep personal significance for her—as well as visiting family members living around the world. Cambodia has remained close to her heart through years of conservation efforts and humanitarian initiatives.

Her recent actions appear to reinforce those plans. In May, Angelina Jolie officially listed her California estate for nearly $30 million. The property, once owned by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, has served as the family home where she raised her children following her separation from Brad Pitt.
At 51, Angelina Jolie continues to maintain a busy professional schedule. Following the positive reception of Couture, she is now preparing for two upcoming films, Sunny and Anxious People. Beyond acting, she remains active as a producer while continuing the humanitarian work she has pursued for more than two decades.
Born in Los Angeles in 1975, Angelina Jolie is the daughter of actor Jon Voight and the late actress Marcheline Bertrand. Entering Hollywood at a young age, she quickly established herself with an intense, fearless acting style and a willingness to take on emotionally demanding roles.
Jolie’s breakthrough came with Girl, Interrupted (1999), which earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She later cemented her status as one of Hollywood’s leading stars through films including Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Wanted, Salt, Maleficent, and Maria, showcasing remarkable versatility across action, drama, and psychological roles.
Alongside her acting career, Angelina Jolie has become internationally recognized for her humanitarian work. She previously served as a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), undertaking numerous missions to conflict zones and consistently advocating for refugees, women’s rights, and children’s welfare worldwide.

Jolie’s personal life has long attracted intense media attention. Before marrying Brad Pitt, she had been married to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. However, it was her relationship with Pitt that became one of Hollywood’s most closely followed love stories.
The pair fell in love after starring together in Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005. Their romance quickly became a global media sensation, particularly as it followed Pitt’s separation from Jennifer Aniston. After years together and raising six children, they married in 2014 before separating just two years later.
The divorce proceedings between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt lasted for years, involving child custody matters as well as disputes over shared assets. Although they finalized their divorce at the end of 2024, they continue to face each other in court over the ownership of Château Miraval, the French winery that was once regarded as a symbol of their marriage.
In an interview this June, Jolie also offered a rare glimpse into her love life. She said, “I haven’t dated or been with anyone since I divorced a decade ago.” The remark suggests that she has continued to prioritize her family and career rather than pursuing a new romantic relationship.

Over the years, Jolie has frequently appeared at film premieres and public events with her children, reflecting the close bond they share. Several of her children have gradually shown an interest in the arts, fashion, and humanitarian causes, although Jolie has consistently worked to protect their privacy from the public spotlight.
With Vivienne and Knox now reaching adulthood, Angelina Jolie is closing the chapter of raising young children after nearly two decades. As plans she has discussed for years begin to take shape, the acclaimed actress appears ready to embrace a new stage of life—one that will allow her to travel more freely, continue her film and humanitarian work, and explore the world alongside her children.
