Solheim Cup 2026: Angela Stanford completes Team USA squad with three captain’s picks

Megan Khang, Rose Zhang and Lindy Duncan selected

Team USA captain Angela Stanford has finalised her 12-player squad for the 2026 Solheim Cup, selecting Megan Khang, Rose Zhang and Lindy Duncan as her three captain’s picks.

The trio will join nine players who qualified automatically, completing the American team for the biennial contest against Europe. The 2026 Solheim Cup will take place at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from September 11-13, with all three days live on Sky Sports Golf.

Khang brings significant Solheim Cup experience to the team, having competed in four previous editions. The 28-year-old was unbeaten in 2024, recording a 3-0-0 record as Team USA defeated Europe. Her experience and previous success made her one of Stanford's key selections.

Rose Zhang returns after perfect 2024 record

Zhang will also return for her third consecutive Solheim Cup appearance. The 23-year-old was part of the American team in 2023 and 2024, and she enjoyed a perfect 4-0-0 record during the 2024 contest.

Stanford highlighted Zhang's ability to perform on the biggest stages as one of the reasons behind her selection. Zhang has also enjoyed a strong 2026 season on the LPGA Tour, recording three top-10 finishes in 14 starts before being selected.

The third captain's pick, Lindy Duncan, will make her Solheim Cup debut. The 35-year-old has enjoyed a strong period on the LPGA Tour, registering 14 top-25 finishes over the past two seasons, including a runner-up finish at the 2025 Chevron Championship.

Duncan admitted that representing Team USA had once seemed a distant possibility after she came close to stepping away from professional golf. Her selection therefore represents a significant milestone in her career.

Two rookies in Stanford's 12-player team

Duncan and Auston Kim are the only two rookies in Stanford's squad. Kim earned her automatic place, while the remaining players qualified through the Solheim Cup points list or world rankings.

World No 1 Nelly Korda headlines the automatically qualified players after another outstanding season. Korda has won four times in 2026, including the Chevron Championship and US Women's Open, and will be one of the key figures for the United States in its bid to retain the trophy.

Angel Yin, Jennifer Kupcho, Yealimi Noh, Lauren Coughlin, Allisen Corpuz, Andrea Lee and Alison Lee also secured their places automatically.

Andrea Lee will make her third Solheim Cup appearance after earning her place as the highest-ranked American in the Rolex Women's World Rankings who had not qualified through the team's points list. Alison Lee will also return for her third appearance after becoming a mother last year.

Several experienced players miss out

Stanford's selections also mean that some familiar names will not be part of Team USA. Lilia Vu and Lexi Thompson were among the experienced players to miss out.

Lucy Li and Jenny Bae were also in contention but failed to secure places after missing the cut at the CPKC Women's Open.

Stanford acknowledged that making the final decisions was difficult but said she was pleased with the group selected and ready for the challenge in the Netherlands.

Team Europe, captained by Anna Nordqvist, has already confirmed its 12-player squad, setting up another highly anticipated contest between the two sides. Europe will be aiming to regain the trophy when the Solheim Cup begins on September 11.
