With the 2026 FIFA World Cup now over, clubs across Europe are shifting their full attention back to the summer transfer market. The Premier League transfer window remains open until September 1, and dozens of high-profile players could still be involved in blockbuster moves before the deadline.

Premier League giants prepare for busy finish

Several of England's biggest clubs are expected to remain among the busiest sides in the coming weeks.

Manchester United continue their search for reinforcements, targeting midfielders Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton, while also pursuing Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall. Bournemouth star Alex Scott is another player on United's radar after rejecting a new contract.

Arsenal are monitoring multiple elite targets, including Julian Alvarez, Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa, and Scott. The Gunners also face important decisions over the futures of Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, and young talent Ethan Nwaneri.

Chelsea could be equally active. The Blues are willing to listen to offers for Alejandro Garnacho and Nicolas Jackson, while midfielder Enzo Fernandez continues to attract transfer speculation despite manager Xabi Alonso's desire to keep him.

World Cup stars driving the market

Several players who impressed in North America have become some of the hottest names on the market.

Spain's World Cup-winning captain Rodri enters the final year of his Manchester City contract and continues to be linked with a return to La Liga, while Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior is also approaching the final year of his deal, raising questions over his future.

Young talents are attracting major attention too. Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has emerged as a target for both Manchester clubs following an outstanding World Cup with Morocco, while Norway winger Antonio Nusa and Roma midfielder Manu Kone are also being monitored by several Premier League sides.

Several established stars could be on the move

Experienced internationals may also change clubs before the window closes.

Marcus Rashford is back at Manchester United after Barcelona decided against making his loan move permanent, while free agent Jadon Sancho is weighing up his next destination after leaving Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, John Stones is available following the expiration of his Manchester City contract, with both Juventus and Inter Milan interested. Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, and AC Milan winger Rafael Leao are also among the established stars whose futures remain uncertain.

Deadline Day promises more drama

With more than six weeks remaining in the transfer window, Europe's biggest clubs are expected to accelerate negotiations as they finalize squads for the new season.

From potential record-breaking transfers to surprise late deals, supporters can expect another dramatic finish before the September 1 deadline, with many of football's biggest names still waiting to discover where they will be playing next season.
