Tom Holland Opens Up About Spider-Man’s Future Ahead of Brand New Day

Tom Holland has revealed that he hopes to see Miles Morales officially make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, adding that he would love to help mentor the next generation of superhero actors in the same way Robert Downey Jr. once guided him when he first joined the franchise.

Speaking to Hobby Consolas, the Spider-Man star said Marvel remains open-minded about the future direction of the character. Although no official plans have been announced, Holland admitted that bringing Miles Morales into the MCU is something he has long hoped to see happen.

“I think at this point in time, we’re being really open-minded about what the future looks like. I know that I have aspirations to bring Miles Morales into the universe, however that works out. We’ve got a lot of work to do to bring that to life.”

The actor explained that his desire comes not only from his admiration for the character but also from the gratitude he feels toward those who helped launch his own journey as Spider-Man.

“I feel incredibly grateful for the way I was introduced into this world and that I was shepherded by RDJ (Robert Downey Jr.). I would love to kind of return that favor to the next generation of people that get the luxury of making these movies. So, that is definitely something that I’m really working towards.”

This is not the first time Holland has expressed those thoughts. In a previous interview, he said he would be happy to help pave the way for the next Spider-Man.

“For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter. Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset.”

In Marvel Comics, Miles Morales is one of the franchise’s most beloved versions of Spider-Man. Introduced in 2011, the character quickly gained a devoted fanbase thanks to his unique story and identity, distinguishing him from Peter Parker. Miles is currently the central character of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse animated films, while his uncle Aaron Davis, played by Donald Glover, appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, subtly confirming that Miles exists within the MCU, although he has yet to appear in live action.

Holland is set to reprise his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The upcoming film features an ensemble cast that includes Jon Bernthal returning as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, and Sadie Sink in a mystery role. Although Marvel has yet to reveal her character, many fans believe the Stranger Things star will portray Jean Grey, one of the X-Men’s most iconic mutants.

Since making his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, Tom Holland has become the defining Spider-Man of Marvel Studios’ current generation. He went on to headline the Spider-Man trilogy consisting of Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. The latter became a global box office phenomenon by bringing together Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield as three generations of Spider-Man, making it one of Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing films of all time.

Beyond Spider-Man, Holland has expanded his career with projects including Cherry, Uncharted, and the psychological drama series The Crowded Room. Although some of these productions received mixed critical responses, the British actor continues to be regarded as one of Hollywood’s most bankable young stars thanks to his versatility, charisma, and consistent screen presence.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day set to arrive soon, Holland’s comments about Miles Morales have reignited speculation that Marvel Studios may be preparing to introduce a new generation of Spider-Man to the MCU. While there has been no official confirmation from Marvel, the actor’s remarks suggest that he hopes not only to continue Peter Parker’s journey but also to help usher in the next era of Spider-Man, much like Robert Downey Jr. once did for him at the beginning of his Marvel career.
