Tom Holland Confirms Secret Marriage to Zendaya: “She’s My Best Friend”

Tom Holland has officially confirmed that he and Zendaya quietly tied the knot, putting months of speculation to rest while staying true to the couple’s long-standing commitment to privacy.

Speaking in a new interview with Esquire UK, the Spider-Man star addressed the AI-generated wedding photos that circulated widely online earlier this year. During the conversation, Holland explained that his grandmother had reached out after seeing the fake images, prompting the interviewer to ask whether he had also needed to reassure other members of his family.

“No, because they were all there,” Holland replied, revealing for the first time that the wedding had already taken place.

When the interviewer admitted he had no idea the ceremony had happened, Holland smiled but made it clear that he had no intention of sharing additional details.

“That’s all you’ll get on that,” he said, once again drawing a firm line between his public career and private life.

Although he declined to discuss the wedding itself, Holland spoke candidly about his relationship with Zendaya, describing the Emmy-winning actress as both his greatest source of comfort and his closest companion.

“Our business can present very stressful situations and it’s really nice to have a bedrock of a relationship that will stand the test of time,” Holland explained. “We can support each other in ways that only we can, because only we understand really what it’s like to live this life, and I think that is such a luxury, because I just don’t understand how I would be able to have anything like that with anyone else. So, for me, I found my person. She’s my best friend, and I’m the happiest I ever have been when I’m with her, but I also have never felt so supported and safe, ever. Period. Maybe when I was young with my parents and my dad was picking me up from school. Not to say that our relationship is like my mom and dad.”

His confirmation comes months after Zendaya’s longtime stylist, Law Roach, fueled marriage speculation during the Actor Awards. Speaking with Access Hollywood, Roach hinted that the couple had already exchanged vows.

“The wedding has already happened. You missed it,” he said.

When reporters pressed him on whether he was telling the truth, Roach simply laughed before adding, “It’s very true.”

Rumors had been building for months. Zendaya was first spotted wearing a gold wedding band on her left ring finger in February while out in Beverly Hills. Despite growing speculation, she refused to publicly confirm the reports during her Summer 2026 cover interview with ELLE.

“No, I’m not going to do that,” Zendaya said. “They’re always searching for something.”

Her appearance at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards wearing an east-west diamond engagement ring had previously confirmed the couple’s engagement, making the gold band only fuel further rumors that the pair had quietly married.

According to Roach, the decision to keep the ceremony entirely private had been planned long before the wedding took place.

“She and Tom are super private about their relationship,” he told Complex. “They’re trying to be as private as possible. There won’t be a Vogue spread or there won’t be pictures of the wedding and the people who she will invite will be really respectful of their privacy, so it will be a really beautiful dress that no one gets to see.”

Zendaya has also been open about why she works so hard to protect her personal life.

During a conversation with her The Drama co-star Robert Pattinson for Interview magazine, the actress reflected on the importance of maintaining boundaries despite living in the public eye.

“Something I admire about you is you keep so much of your life to yourself, which is a beautiful thing, especially having a family,” she said, referring to Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse’s daughter. “I’m learning how to balance those things. At the end of the day, you’re a public figure, there’s nothing you can do, but some things are meant for yourself and for your loved ones… I do try to have privacy, not just for characters, but for me in real life. I try to be honest to who I am when I am in public, but I also try to keep things for myself.”

That shared philosophy has become one of the defining characteristics of Holland and Zendaya’s relationship. Although they have known each other for more than a decade, the pair have been romantically linked since 2021, after years of friendship that began while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Over the years, they have occasionally paid tribute to one another in interviews and on social media, but both have consistently emphasized that their relationship belongs to them—not to the public.

In a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Holland summed up their approach simply: “Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible. We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers.”

From West End Performer to One of Hollywood’s Biggest Stars

Long before becoming Marvel’s Spider-Man, Holland built his career on the stage. Raised in London by photographer Nicola Frost and comedian-author Dominic Holland, he developed a passion for dance at an early age and trained extensively in hip-hop.

His talent eventually led him to the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical, where years of demanding choreography and athletic performances unexpectedly prepared him for the physical demands of portraying one of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes.

Holland made his feature-film breakthrough in 2012 with The Impossible, starring alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. His emotional performance earned widespread critical acclaim and introduced him as one of Britain’s most promising young actors.

His career changed forever in 2016 when he was cast as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Beginning with Captain America: Civil War and followed by the hugely successful Spider-Man trilogy, Holland became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable leading men, with Spider-Man: No Way Home emerging as one of the highest-grossing films of the decade.

Outside Marvel, Holland has continued to expand his résumé with projects including Cherry, The Devil All the Time, Uncharted, and more recently Spider-Man: Brand New Day, demonstrating his determination to build a career beyond superhero films.

Zendaya’s Rise From Disney Star to Global Fashion and Acting Icon

Zendaya’s career has followed an equally remarkable trajectory.

After first gaining fame on Disney Channel’s Shake It Up, she successfully reinvented herself as one of Hollywood’s most respected actresses. Her portrayal of Rue Bennett in HBO’s Euphoria earned her multiple Emmy Awards, making her one of the youngest performers ever to receive the honor.

Her work in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, the Spider-Man franchise and Challengers has further cemented her status as one of the entertainment industry’s most versatile stars.

Beyond acting, Zendaya has become one of fashion’s biggest names. Working alo

ngside longtime stylist Law Roach, she has transformed nearly every red-carpet appearance into a majorcultural moment, earning recognition as one of the most influential style figures of her generation.

A Love Story Built on Privacy

Holland and Zendaya first met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. After years of friendship, romance rumors intensified before the couple confirmed their relationship in 2021.

Since then, they have largely resisted the pressure that often accompanies celebrity relationships, choosing instead to keep much of their personal lives away from public view.

That commitment has been tested repeatedly, particularly in an era dominated by social media and artificial intelligence. Earlier this year, AI-generated wedding photos spread rapidly across the internet, confusing fans—and even some members of Holland’s own family.

Rather than responding with lengthy explanations, the couple continued to protect their privacy, reinforcing the boundaries they have maintained throughout their relationship.

Their quiet wedding ultimately reflects the values they have embraced from the very beginning. Without an exclusive magazine spread, public ceremony or lavish media rollout, Holland and Zendaya chose to celebrate one of the biggest moments of their lives surrounded only by the people who mattered most.

After nearly a decade of friendship and several years as one of Hollywood’s most admired couples, Tom Holland and Zendaya have entered a new chapter together—one defined not by headlines, but by the deeply personal life they have worked so carefully to build.
