Tom Hardy Enters the Music World with Czarface Collaboration

After years of being known primarily as one of Hollywood’s most intense action stars, Tom Hardy is reportedly preparing for an unexpected career shift by stepping into the music industry. Best recognized for his work in the Venom franchise, the actor is said to be releasing his debut rap album, revisiting a passion for music that dates back decades.

According to reports, Hardy has teamed up with hip-hop supergroup Czarface—made up of producer 7L, rapper Esoteric, and Wu-Tang Clan member Inspectah Deck—for a collaborative album titled Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer. For the project, the actor performs under the rap alias Frankie Pulitzer, also known as Face Puller.

The album is scheduled for release on August 28. Ahead of its launch, Hardy gave fans a preview by dropping the lead single, Brothers Grimm, on June 25.

Reports also suggest the record will feature appearances by several major names in hip-hop, including Method Man, El-O, and Busta Rhymes, creating a project that blends Hardy’s longtime love of rap with some of the genre’s most respected artists.

In reality, this is far from Hardy’s first musical venture. Long before becoming a Hollywood star, he recorded an unreleased rap mixtape in 1999 under the stage name Tommy No. 1. Although the project was never officially released, it unexpectedly surfaced online in 2018, surprising many fans who had never realized music had always been one of the actor’s creative passions.

News of the album arrives as questions continue to surround Hardy’s future on the gangster drama MobLand. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the series also stars Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan and follows London’s powerful Harrigan crime family as they become locked in a brutal battle with their rivals, the Stevensons, in a conflict capable of destroying empires and lives alike.

Production on the show’s second season wrapped earlier this year. However, reports emerged in May claiming Hardy had been removed from the Paramount+ series after two seasons following alleged conflicts with executive producer Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser.

According to those reports, Hardy was frequently late arriving on set and regularly requested script changes, creating tension during production, including with veteran co-stars Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.

The original report appeared in Puck, where former The Hollywood Reporter editorial director Matthew Belloni wrote: “I’m told Paramount recently opted not to pick up Hardy for season three after his clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, among others, during the recent production of season two.”

Not long afterward, however, Variety disputed the claims. The publication reported that Hardy had not been fired from MobLand and that both the actor and producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser were still attempting to resolve their differences in hopes of continuing their collaboration.

Amid the speculation, Helen Mirren appeared to publicly support her co-star. Posting a photo of Hardy on Instagram, the Oscar-winning actress accompanied it with the simple message: “Love you now and always.” Many fans interpreted the post as an indirect rejection of reports suggesting friction between the two actors.

Tom Hardy has long been regarded as one of Britain’s finest actors. After graduating from Drama Centre London, he began his career with supporting roles before breaking through with performances in Black Hawk Down, Star Trek: Nemesis, and especially Bronson. His ability to portray psychologically complex characters with remarkable physical intensity quickly made him one of the industry’s most sought-after performers.

His career reached another level through collaborations with Christopher Nolan in Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Dunkirk. His portrayal of the iconic villain Bane cemented his status as a major blockbuster star, while his performance in The Revenant earned him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

In recent years, Hardy has continued to expand his filmography with projects including the Venom trilogy, Mad Max: Fury Road, Capone, Havoc, and the television series Taboo, which he also co-created. The project demonstrated his growing ambition beyond acting as he increasingly embraced producing and developing original content.

Away from the screen, Hardy has spoken openly about overcoming alcohol and drug addiction during the early years of his career. He has repeatedly credited sobriety with transforming both his personal life and professional success, allowing him to focus on his family and his work.

Hardy married actress Charlotte Riley in 2014 after the pair met while filming the television adaptation of Wuthering Heights. The couple have largely kept their family life private. Before marrying Riley, Hardy was married to Sarah Ward and also has a son from his previous relationship with assistant director Rachael Speed.

Beyond acting, Hardy is also known for his charitable work, particularly his support for military veterans, homelessness initiatives, and animal welfare organizations. A devoted dog lover, he is frequently seen attending events alongside his beloved pets.

His unexpected return to rap demonstrates that Tom Hardy continues to seek new creative challenges beyond the film industry. While uncertainty still surrounds his future on MobLand and conflicting reports continue to circulate, his new music project signals the beginning of another chapter in an already diverse career. Drawing on a passion for hip-hop that began long before his Hollywood success, Hardy appears determined to prove that his artistic ambitions extend far beyond the silver screen.
