IRAN’s players and staff showed their class after their draw with Belgium by leaving a special hand written thank-you note to the city of Los Angeles.

The City of Angels has hosted both of the Iranians‘ Group G games, which they’ve drawn. Yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Belgium, whom they’re ABOVE in the table. mean they are on track to reach the last 32.

And as the Persians left their SoFi Stadium locker room, they decided to convey their thanks to LA for hosting them with a handwritten note.

It read: “From the ancient Persia of thousands of years ago to the civilised Iran of today.

“The spirit of Iran remains alive and steadfast. “We came to Los Angeles with pride, competed with honour and leave with dignity.

“Thank you, Los Angeles for your hospitality.

“And thank you to every Iranian who gave their heart, voice and soul for Iran throughout these 180 minutes.

“May peace, respect and friendship prevail among all nations.”

The warm words for their hosts comes despite the Iran team being forced to leave the US as soon as their matches end.

Following their opener against New Zealand, they were told to fly back to their camp in Tijuana, Mexico.

Captain Mehdi Taremi said after that game: “Everything is like a disaster actually for us… still we have some problems because we are supposed to be training tomorrow morning – recovery – then leave for Tijuana.

“But we have to leave Los Angeles right now, and it’s not good for us. It’s not good for the football, because in World Cup, you have to prepare good for the next game.”

Following Iran’s second game, head coach Amir Ghalenoei was able to strike a more positive tone.

He was over the moon at his side’s display against perennial tournament dark horses Belgium.

He said: “We came into the World Cup under the worst possible conditions.

“And still we got a result against a great team and a great manager.

“We played a beautiful game.”

A proud as punch Ghalenoei added: “We had two great games without losing.

“Tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we focus on Egypt, which is a very strong team.” It’s possible Iran could play the USA in the Round of 32 should they both finish second in their respective groups.

However with Mauricio Pochettino’s side winning their first two matches, they would need to lose by five goals in their final game against Turkey for that to happen.
