FANS went wild as Shakira was shown on the big screen during Argentina vs Austria.

The pop sensation, 49, was sat in the posh seats watching Lionel Messi and Co in action in Arlington, Texas. During the second half of the clash, Shakira was shown on the big screen at Dallas Stadium.

The Colombian icon waved and blew a kiss to the camera, with fans in the stadium giving her a huge cheer.

She then appeared again during the second half hydration break.

Shakira has become synonymous with the World Cup down the years.

In 2006 she performed a remixed version of her hit Hips Don’t Lie during the closing ceremony in Germany.

It was then in 2010 that she really left her mark on the World Cup with Waka Waka – which was the official song of the tournament.

Waka Waka remains hugely popular with fans and is almost certainly the most famous World Cup anthem of all time.

Shakira has since released La La La for the Brazil World Cup in 2014, as well as Dai Dai for this year’s edition, which she performed during the opening ceremony. The singer was treated to a slice of history during the Argentina-Austria clash.

She witnessed Messi score his landmark 17th World Cup goal – which made him the tournament’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Messi, 38, had actually begun the match in unfortunate fashion, missing a ninth minute penalty.

But his clinical 38th minute finish saw him clinch yet another record in his remarkable career.

Messi then extended the record to 18 by scoring in stoppage time, clinching his side’s 2-0 win in the process.
