NRL Round 20 Team Tips: Munster Blow Shakes Storm as Key Stars Close in on Returns

The race to the NRL finals is heating up, but Round 20 has already delivered a series of major selection headaches. Melbourne Storm have suffered a devastating injury setback with Cameron Munster facing up to six weeks on the sidelines, while several contenders are set to welcome back Origin stars ahead of a crucial weekend.

With finals spots on the line, every team change could prove decisive.

Storm Suffer Huge Cameron Munster Blow

Melbourne's finals hopes have taken a massive hit after Cameron Munster underwent knee surgery for cartilage damage and is expected to miss between four and six weeks.

The Storm currently sit two wins outside the top eight and face one of the toughest remaining schedules in the competition. Tyran Wishart is expected to continue filling the No.6 role, while Moses Leo is available again after completing concussion protocols.

There could also be a reshuffle in the forward pack after impressive club debutant Oryn Keeley pushed for a starting spot.

Panthers and Broncos Receive Timely Reinforcements

Penrith are closing in on welcoming back key forwards Mitch Kenny and Casey McLean, although McLean appears more likely to return this week. Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo and Liam Martin are all expected to strengthen Ivan Cleary's squad as the Panthers continue their charge.

Brisbane could also regain both Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam in a major boost. Reynolds is expected to reclaim the No.7 jersey if declared fit, while debate continues over whether Mam should immediately return to the starting side.

Billy Walters is also pushing for his first NRL appearance since recovering from the ACL injury he suffered in last year's finals series.

Roosters Welcome Back Stars Before Storm Clash

The Sydney Roosters are expected to receive a significant boost with Sam Walker and Reece Robson both returning from representative duties.

However, captain James Tedesco remains unavailable after suffering a concussion in State of Origin III, meaning Cody Ramsey is likely to continue at fullback.

The blockbuster clash against Melbourne now carries even greater importance given the Storm's injury concerns.

Wayne Bennett Keeps Everyone Guessing at South Sydney

Wayne Bennett once again refused to reveal his plans regarding Jye Gray's role despite speculation surrounding Cody Walker's return from suspension.

The veteran coach insisted recent selection changes were tactical but stopped short of confirming who would wear the No.1 jersey against Canberra.

South Sydney have already confirmed exciting winger Dayne Jennings will miss at least one match after requiring 35 stitches following a serious leg laceration.

Meanwhile, Euan Aitken is expected to recover after experiencing breathing difficulties during last week's game, while Latrell Mitchell and Alex Johnston remain another week away.

Bulldogs, Tigers and Cowboys Await Key Injury Calls

Canterbury captain Stephen Crichton remains only a slim chance of playing after suffering an injury last weekend, although scans cleared him of serious damage.

The Bulldogs are also set to regain powerhouse forward Viliame Kikau, while Enari Tuala is expected to return after illness.

Across town, the Tigers will likely lose Bunty Afoa through suspension, while Starford To'a remains under an injury cloud with a groin complaint.

North Queensland could finally welcome back Tom Dearden, who is nearing full fitness after his ankle injury and is expected to resume training this week ahead of Sunday's clash with the Dolphins.

Warriors, Dolphins and Sea Eagles Prepare for Crucial Weekend

The Warriors are set to regain Origin representatives Mitch Barnett and Kurt Capewell, providing a major lift for Andrew Webster's side.

The Dolphins will welcome back Queensland trio Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo and Jack Bostock, although concerns remain over Max Plath after he suffered an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Manly are expected to be without Ben Trbojevic due to concussion and could also lose Corey Waddell, forcing further changes to Anthony Seibold's forward rotation.

Round 20 Could Shape the Finals Race

With injuries mounting and representative stars returning across the competition, Round 20 may prove to be one of the most influential weekends of the season.

Melbourne must somehow cope without Cameron Munster during the most difficult stretch of their campaign, while rivals around them continue to strengthen.

Every selection decision, every returning star and every injury update could have a significant impact on the race for the top eight as the NRL season enters its decisive phase.
