Manchester United close in on Youri Tielemans after triggering Aston Villa release clause

Manchester United are on the verge of strengthening their midfield once again, with negotiations for Aston Villa star Youri Tielemans progressing rapidly after the club activated the Belgian international's release clause.

The move comes as Erik ten Hag's side continues its major midfield rebuild following the arrival of Andrey Santos, with United determined to add more experience and quality ahead of the new campaign.

United move quickly after Belgium's World Cup exit

Talks between Manchester United and Tielemans accelerated shortly after Belgium were eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Sky Sports, United are prepared to pay the midfielder's £36 million release clause, allowing the deal to progress without prolonged negotiations with Aston Villa.
