After publicly confirming the end of their marriage of more than 20 years in May, Chyler Leigh and Nathan West have once again found themselves in the spotlight as newly revealed court documents shed light on the details of their divorce. The filings reveal that the legal proceedings had actually been finalized more than a year before the actress chose to speak publicly about their separation.

According to court records, Nathan West quietly filed for divorce in June 2024, just two days after the couple established their official date of separation. Their divorce was finalized in June 2025. For nearly a year afterward, the former couple kept the matter private. It was not until Chyler Leigh appeared on the Books That Changed My Life podcast in May 2026 that she publicly confirmed their marriage had ended.
Reflecting on the decision, Leigh said, “It was time to let it go.” She added, “I think getting to a point where my relationship with my ex had reached a point where it was just time.” During the conversation, the actress emphasized that the decision came after a long period of reflection, explaining that both of them wanted to preserve mutual respect rather than allow resentment to define the next chapter of their lives.
Their relationship began long before their wedding. Leigh and West first met while auditioning for a television project in 1999 and quickly developed a close connection. In previous interviews, Leigh has shared that she knew West was the man she would eventually marry from the very first time they met. They tied the knot in 2002 and welcomed three children together: Noah, Taelyn, and Anniston.

Court documents list the reason for the divorce as “irreconcilable differences.” The filings also state that both parties had given “full and mature thought” to the dissolution agreement before signing it, indicating that the settlement was reached through mutual agreement rather than a lengthy legal dispute.
Under the property settlement, Chyler Leigh retained ownership of one Tennessee property, her 2023 Kia Telluride, and most of the household appliances, furniture, and personal belongings in that residence. The only exceptions were Nathan West’s personal possessions, including his road bike, tools, Weber grill, and hockey equipment.
West, meanwhile, was awarded another Tennessee property, a 2023 Toyota Tundra, a speedboat, and a pontoon boat. He also retained the furnishings and household items in his residence, excluding Leigh’s personal belongings such as her jewelry, massage chair, and selected kitchen items.
Financial records also indicate that the former spouses stopped using each other’s credit cards in March 2025, demonstrating that they had already separated their finances well before publicly announcing their split. Leigh also transferred nearly half of a $602,699 account balance to West as part of their settlement.
In addition, Leigh retained three Royal Bank of Canada accounts along with all business interests in Bright Star Entertainment Inc. West maintained full ownership of Modern Machine LLC. According to the settlement, West ultimately received assets valued at more than $993,000, in addition to the $200,000 payment Leigh agreed to make.

One of the most closely watched aspects of the agreement concerns spousal support. Under the final decree, Leigh will pay West $5,000 per month in alimony for ten years, beginning in June 2025. West will also receive half of Leigh’s monthly retirement benefits from her Screen Actors Guild pension plan after agreeing to designate their three children as beneficiaries.
The couple also reached a comprehensive parenting agreement regarding their youngest daughter, Anniston, who was still a minor when the divorce was finalized. They agreed to share joint legal custody. Leigh will spend Halloween with Anniston, while West will have custody during the Fourth of July holiday. Thanksgiving and Christmas will alternate between the parents in even- and odd-numbered years.
Because Leigh’s monthly income was listed at approximately $90,000 compared with West’s reported monthly income of $3,000, she was ordered to pay $2,100 per month in child support beginning in May 2025. She also agreed to cover Anniston’s health insurance expenses as well as long-distance travel costs whenever her daughter needs to travel between Tennessee and Leigh’s filming locations.
The parenting plan emphasizes flexibility. Since the couple’s two older children are adults and continue living with their younger sister, Anniston is permitted to remain at home with her siblings whenever she is unable to accompany her mother during filming. The former spouses also agreed to make joint decisions regarding their daughter’s education, healthcare, and extracurricular activities.
Professionally, Chyler Leigh remains one of television’s most recognizable actresses. She earned widespread acclaim for portraying Lexie Grey on Grey’s Anatomy before taking on the role of Alex Danvers in Supergirl. Most recently, she starred in Hallmark’s The Way Home, further cementing a career built on consistent performances and a reputation largely free from public controversy.
Nathan West has also built a career in entertainment as both an actor and musician. Although his profile has remained lower than Leigh’s, he has appeared in numerous television and film projects while continuing to pursue music. Throughout their marriage, West largely stayed out of the spotlight, making relatively few public appearances unless accompanying his wife.

Unlike many high-profile celebrity breakups, Leigh and West’s marriage was never overshadowed by public allegations of infidelity or highly publicized legal battles. Instead, both have consistently emphasized their desire to maintain a respectful relationship for the sake of their children. When discussing the divorce, Leigh explained that ending the marriage before resentment took over was ultimately healthier than remaining in a relationship that no longer brought happiness to either of them.
Beyond her acting career, Leigh has also been open about her mental health journey. She previously revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has since become an advocate for mental health awareness. Together with her family, she has participated in initiatives encouraging conversations about emotional well-being, family relationships, and personal growth.
The release of the divorce documents offers a more detailed picture of how Chyler Leigh and Nathan West concluded a marriage that lasted more than two decades. While the financial settlement, spousal support, and custody arrangements have naturally attracted public attention, the statements made by both parties suggest that their greatest priority remains working together as co-parents and ensuring stability for their children as they move forward separately.
