Cara Delevingne Says Johnny Depp Was “Driven Crazy by Jealousy”

After years of speculation, Cara Delevingne has publicly confirmed for the first time that she was romantically involved with Amber Heard during the period when the actress was finalizing her divorce from Johnny Depp. Her candid remarks, made during an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, quickly drew widespread attention as they marked the first time the model and actress had openly addressed the long-rumored relationship.

During the interview, host Louis Theroux brought up longstanding speculation that Delevingne had been romantically involved with Heard while the latter’s marriage to Johnny Depp was falling apart. Rather than avoiding the subject, Delevingne chose to clarify exactly what happened.

She explained that she first met both Amber Heard and Johnny Depp while the three were working together on the film London Fields. According to Delevingne, Depp was already struggling with intense jealousy during that period.

“He was pretty driven crazy by jealousy.”

However, she firmly denied that there was anything romantic between herself and Heard at that time.

“Nothing was happening at that point,” she said before adding, “Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose.”

Delevingne explained that she and Heard had been close friends for a long time. It was only after Heard and Depp entered divorce proceedings that their relationship evolved into something romantic.

“Then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled,” she said, adding that Heard was also “entangled with other people.”

Host Louis Theroux then mentioned “Elon,” referring to Amber Heard’s widely reported relationship with Elon Musk. Delevingne simply smiled and replied, “There you go.”

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard first went public with their relationship in 2011 before marrying in early 2015. Just over a year later, Heard filed for divorce. The pair reached a $7 million settlement in August 2016, but their legal disputes were far from over.

In 2018, Heard published an op-ed in The Washington Post describing herself as a survivor of domestic abuse. Although Depp was never mentioned by name, the article led the actor to file a defamation lawsuit in 2019.

The highly publicized six-week trial in 2022 became one of Hollywood’s most closely watched legal battles. Throughout the proceedings, both Depp and Heard accused each other of physical, emotional, and psychological abuse.

The jury ultimately ruled largely in Depp’s favor, ordering Heard to pay him $10.35 million in damages. Depp, meanwhile, was ordered to pay Heard $2 million after she prevailed on one of her three counterclaims. Following appeals from both sides, they eventually reached a settlement under which Heard agreed to pay Depp $1 million, with Depp pledging to donate the entire amount to charity.

Following the years-long legal battle, Amber Heard has largely stepped away from Hollywood. She now lives in Madrid, Spain, with her three children—daughter Oonagh and twins Agnes and Ocean, who were born in 2025. The actress has maintained a much lower public profile, rarely making media appearances.

As for Cara Delevingne, she remains one of the most recognizable models of her generation. Raised in a well-connected London family, Delevingne rose to international fame in the early 2010s, becoming one of fashion’s most sought-after faces. She has walked for leading luxury houses including Chanel, Burberry, Dior, Fendi, and Dolce & Gabbana, while her distinctive eyebrows and bold style helped redefine modern fashion beauty standards.

Alongside her modeling success, Delevingne has built a career in film and television through projects including Paper Towns, Suicide Squad, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Carnival Row, and Only Murders in the Building. Although her acting career has produced mixed commercial results, she continues to be recognized as a versatile performer willing to explore multiple creative fields, including music and television.

Her personal life has frequently attracted public attention as well. Delevingne has openly discussed her fluid sexuality and has spoken candidly about her journey toward self-discovery. Over the years, she has been linked to several high-profile figures, including St. Vincent and Ashley Benson, while also becoming the subject of numerous dating rumors. Despite the constant media scrutiny, she has generally preferred to keep her private relationships out of the spotlight.

In recent years, Delevingne has also been open about her struggles with mental health and addiction. After concerns about her wellbeing intensified in 2022 following several troubling public appearances, she entered treatment and has since spoken about how sobriety transformed her life. Since then, she has steadily rebuilt both her career and public image, returning to major fashion events, film projects, and television appearances.

By publicly confirming her past relationship with Amber Heard, Cara Delevingne has finally addressed one of Hollywood’s longest-running rumors. Although the events she discussed took place nearly a decade ago, her comments provide new insight into one of the entertainment industry’s most turbulent periods while offering a clearer understanding of the complicated relationships surrounding Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s highly publicized divorce. They also reflect Delevingne’s growing willingness to speak openly about chapters of her personal life that she had previously chosen to keep private.
