Adele Rarely Speaks About Son Angelo, Reveals the Shared Passion That Strengthened Their Bond

Adele is opening up about one of the most meaningful relationships in her life—her bond with her 13-year-old son, Angelo—and how an unexpected shared passion has brought them closer than ever.

The Grammy-winning singer made a surprise visit to McLaren Racing headquarters, where she joined CEO Zak Brown and Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri for a behind-the-scenes tour. During the visit, Adele revealed that Formula 1 has become something far more significant than a new hobby—it has given her and Angelo a unique way to connect as he navigates his teenage years.

According to Adele, it all started when Angelo developed an interest in karting, the grassroots motorsport that has launched the careers of many Formula 1 drivers.

“So my son is really into karting and things like that. I don’t know. He just sort of asked about it a couple of years ago and I was like, ‘All right.’ I don’t know many teenagers who have a passion so I’m really trying to encourage it. He’s obsessed but I’m also obsessed,” she shared.

For Adele, supporting her son’s interests meant becoming genuinely invested herself—a decision she says transformed their relationship.

The singer explained that their friendly debates over favorite drivers, race strategies and Grand Prix results have become some of their favorite moments together, creating a connection she never anticipated during Angelo’s teenage years.

Adele also reflected on her own career while chatting with Norris. Asked whether she still enjoys singing as much as she once did, the “Easy On Me” singer admitted, “I don’t sing very often anymore.” Moments later, however, she couldn’t resist singing a few playful lines from Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time” after trying on a racing headset.

The visit also prompted Adele to speak candidly about fame, something she has long admitted she has struggled with despite becoming one of the world’s best-selling recording artists.

“Oh my god. I think it is ridiculous that my job is being a singer,” she said. “I wanted to be an A&R. I never thought that I was the talent.”

Growing up in Tottenham, London, Adele never imagined she would become a global superstar. Instead, she dreamed of discovering and developing other artists, believing her strength was recognizing talent rather than being the performer herself.

Today, with more than 120 million records sold worldwide and a career that includes 16 Grammy Awards and acclaimed albums 19, 21, 25 and 30, Adele still describes fame as something she never fully expected—or entirely embraced.

Away from the spotlight, family has remained her top priority. Adele shares Angelo with ex-husband Simon Konecki, whom she divorced in 2019, and has consistently kept her son out of the public eye. As a result, any glimpse she offers into their relationship is especially rare.

Since 2021, Adele has been in a relationship with sports agent Rich Paul. The couple became engaged after several years of dating and have largely kept their romance private. Earlier this year, Paul shared that their relationship developed naturally after years of crossing paths through mutual friends before eventually becoming something more.

Adele has also spoken openly about wanting to expand her family with Paul. During one of her concerts, she revealed that she keeps a running list of baby names on her phone whenever she hears one she loves, saying she hopes to become a mother again in the near future.

While Adele continues to guard her private life, her latest comments offer a rare glimpse into the joy she has found outside of music. For the singer, Formula 1 has become more than a sport—it has unexpectedly created a new language between mother and son, strengthening a bond she says she never imagined would come from the racing world.
