Adele Makes Rare Public Appearance at the British Grand Prix, Reveals Formula 1 Passion That Brought Her Closer to Her 13-Year-Old Son

After maintaining a relatively low profile in recent months, Adele made a surprise public appearance at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The award-winning singer quickly drew attention as she joined a host of celebrities at the iconic Formula 1 event, further highlighting her growing passion for the sport—a hobby she has openly discussed in recent weeks.

The Easy On Me singer opted for a casual yet stylish look, wearing a fan T-shirt honoring 2025 Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris and the McLaren racing team. She completed the outfit with a delicate necklace bearing the word “Mummy,” a subtle reminder of the role she has often described as the most important part of her life.

This was not Adele’s first Formula 1 appearance. Last October, she attended the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, where she posed for photos with Mercedes drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. Her repeated appearances at racing events suggest that her enthusiasm for Formula 1 has evolved into a genuine passion rather than a passing interest.

Just two days before arriving at Silverstone, Adele gave a rare interview in which she spoke about her 13-year-old son, Angelo. During a visit to McLaren Racing headquarters, she revealed that Formula 1 has unexpectedly become something that has brought them closer together as he enters his teenage years.

Adele explained: “So my son is really into karting and things like that. I don’t know. He just sort of asked about it a couple of years ago and I was like, ‘All right.’ I don’t know many teenagers who have a passion so I’m really trying to encourage it. He’s obsessed but I’m also obsessed.”

The singer said Angelo’s enthusiasm for karting inspired her to learn more about the sport herself. In her view, when a child develops a genuine interest, parents should actively engage with it rather than simply observing from the sidelines. Doing so not only supports the child but also creates valuable opportunities for family bonding.

She continued: “But just like when your kid has an interest, you have to lean into it. More importantly, I think you have to be interested in it. And I don’t think I ever expected to bond with my soon to be 14-year-old son about something so passionately where we like argue about drivers, you know. But it’s fun to have that interaction with a teenage boy in 2026, I wasn’t expecting it.”

During her visit to McLaren Racing, Adele also spent time chatting with CEO Zac Brown and Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. When Norris asked her, “Do you actually still enjoy singing?”, Adele candidly admitted, “I don’t sing very often anymore.” Moments later, however, she couldn’t resist singing a few lines from …Baby One More Time by Britney Spears while wearing a racing headset, creating a lighthearted moment for everyone present.

Adele also reflected on how she views her career today. She confessed: “Oh my god. I think it is ridiculous that my job is being a singer. No, never believed [it would happen]. I wanted to be an A&R. I never thought that I was the talent.” She revealed that she had always believed she was better suited to discovering and developing artists than becoming one herself.

She added: “I knew I was really good with music, which is why I thought I’d be so good at discovering new talent. It is incredibly unlikely that a girl from Tottenham is going to go on to have any kind of career in England, let alone sort of universally and stuff like that. So, it was never an option.” Adele admitted that growing up, she never imagined a girl from Tottenham could one day achieve worldwide success.

The singer also spoke openly about the challenges that come with fame. “It’s very well known that I struggle with the fame side of it. If I remind myself like it’s a joke that my job is being a singer, I just always try and lean into that.” Despite becoming one of the world’s biggest music stars, Adele acknowledged that she has never fully embraced the spotlight and continues to find ways to keep herself grounded.

Born in London in 1988, Adele rose to prominence after releasing her debut album 19. Her emotionally rich vocals and heartfelt songwriting quickly established her as one of Britain’s most distinctive voices. She went on to achieve global success with 21, 25, and 30, each becoming one of the best-selling albums of its era.

Over nearly two decades, Adele has won 16 Grammy Awards and numerous other prestigious honors, cementing her status as one of the defining artists of her generation. Hits including Someone Like You, Rolling in the Deep, Hello, and Easy On Me have become modern classics and topped charts around the world.

Away from music, Adele’s personal life has often attracted public attention. She was previously married to businessman Simon Konecki, with whom she shares her son, Angelo. Following their divorce in 2021, Adele has repeatedly emphasized that co-parenting and her son’s well-being remain her highest priorities.

In recent years, Adele has been in a relationship with sports agent Rich Paul. Although their romance has attracted considerable media attention, the singer has largely kept her private life out of the spotlight, choosing instead to focus on her family, music, and personal projects.

Unlike many celebrities who regularly attend high-profile entertainment events, Adele prefers a relatively private lifestyle. She rarely walks red carpets or makes public appearances unless they are connected to her work or personal interests. As a result, each public outing quickly becomes headline news.

Her appearance at the British Grand Prix not only reflected her growing love for Formula 1 but also revealed a more personal side of the superstar. Rather than focusing solely on her music career, Adele spoke candidly about motherhood and how her son’s passion for motorsport unexpectedly introduced her to a world she now genuinely enjoys.

At 38, Adele remains one of the most influential performers in global music. Although she admits she no longer sings as frequently as she once did and continues to keep a distance from the spotlight, every public appearance generates enormous interest. Whether through her music, family life, or simple moments at major sporting events, Adele continues to project the image of an international superstar who values authenticity, privacy, and the relationships that matter most.
